Nintendo calls Super Mario Run revenue "acceptable" a year later

There was no lack of applause in the presentation, the great Mario arrived in scoop (not exclusively) to Apple phones, the first appearance of the Italian plumber with Japanese designers in a device of these characteristics.

Everything became much darker when it came to observing that Nintendo's way of getting income was going to be quite peculiar, almost ten euros for a mobile game with a development that is not exactly GOTY. A year later the big N qualifies the economic results as "acceptable".

Acceptable may seem to pay € 9,99 for the levels of a Super Mario in mobile version whose only functionality is to pound the screen (says one who bought the game back in the day). It is obvious that this aggressive technique on the part of the Japanese company made many users scare that although they would have gone through the most logical price ring just to be able to say that they have plunged into the fashion game. A totally inverse strategy to the one Niantic did in its day with Pokémon Go. This is how ineffective Nintendo has been managing its best mobile game to date.

Nintendo's board of directors claim to have taken all these data into account to learn how the world of mobile application development works, but the reality is that they came on notice. They wanted to continue to maintain the old price and production techniques that captivate the gamer public, not applicable to the mobile phone public. Meanwhile they regret not having obtained the benefits they expected far from it, and it is not something that surprises us at all, either. Despite the more than 200 million downloads, the reality is that the vast majority choose not to buy the game, and this is mainly due to two factors, its quality and its price.

Well, it still seems like a great game to me. Very addictive, entertaining and still playing it after months.

I do agree that it is expensive, I hope that in the future they will not climb so much on the vine. Now, I also hope they don't do a constant shopping system. Other games like Monument Valley have a fixed price for the entire game and have worked well.
