Nomad has updated its Rugged Case for AirPods making it compatible with AirPods Pro, and on the way He has taken the opportunity to add some details that improve the previous model, expanding the distance with respect to the products of other manufacturers. We have tested it and we show you all the details below.
Protection and design
It can be redundant to protect a box, but many of us find it more than convenient. After using AirPods since their first generation, and being at first quite reluctant to use protective cases, in the end experience has taught me that if you want the case of your AirPods to remain in good condition, you must cover it with some type of protection. The glossy white finish of the polycarbonate is very sensitive to external aggressions, and carrying the AirPods in the bag, gym bag or pocket with other items ends up quite "damaged."
To this we must add the risk (rather the certainty) that the box will fall to the ground, something that has happened to me on a couple of occasions. With this Rugged Case from Nomad we cover all these aspects, and thanks to its internal plastic structure and a thickness "neither too thin nor too thick" we can be calm in the face of most accidental falls from a table or from our pocket. Very aptly, the cover has a central plastic frame, which is what will hit the ground in the event of a fall, so that the skin does not suffer damage.
The most visible element of the Nomad case is the excellent leather that covers most of its surface. That Horween skin that we have already tried on the iPhone cases of the same brand and that has such a pleasant touch, and that improves over time thanks to that property that only a material like this has. The grip of the box also improves significantly, so the chances of it slipping and falling to the ground decrease. Nomad has added a microfiber fabric to its interior so that the original box is not damaged, and this also makes the case fit perfectly and does not come off easily, something that did happen with previous generations.
In the details is the difference
This Nomad Rugged Case is not the only leather case on the market, nor the first, but it is quite different from the others. To all that we have said previously, we must add a series of details that make the difference. Details such as that the charging LED is perfectly visible thanks to a small fiber optic channel that carries the light to the outside so you don't lose an iota of visibility of it. We will also find a small area on the back that corresponds to the AirPods link button, and that we can use to press that button without having to remove the case. It also has a hook for a wrist strap, and of course the hole for the Lightning connector, in case we do not want to use the wireless charging that, obviously, continues to work with the case on.
Editor's opinion
Covers for AirPods come in all types, materials and prices, but this Nomad Rugged Case stands out above most for the quality of its materials, its design and for some details that, while others ignore them completely, they have wanted take care of the maximum. Protecting your AirPods Pro without losing any of its advantages is possible, and you can also do it for a more than adjusted price, since This Nomad Rugged Case for your AirPods Pro costs € 34,99 en Machinists, in either of its two colors: brown and black.
