A week ago I uninstalled Facebook from my iPhone, this is the result

How many times have you read the myth about how certain apps influence the way you use your iPhone, and most important of all, how long your battery lasts. After my last (and I have to say that much more comforting) visit to the Apple Store in Sol, in Madrid, They recommended that I carry out a type of notification configuration that supposedly would allow me to save battery.

However, I decided to cut my losses. A week ago I opted to uninstall Facebook and Facebook Messenger to really check if it would save as much battery as they claim. If you want to know how the use of applications derived from Facebook affects your iOS device, do not miss my conclusions.

The truth is that I was extremely skeptical, but I bring you the first of the tips. We always think that there are two options with the notifications «Activate them» or «Do not activate them», however, there is a quite interesting alternative, we can for example activate the only balloons in the icons but not have the notifications on the screen activated, this will help to prevent an innocuous message on Twitter from activating the backlighting of the screen, and therefore consume less battery.

Does uninstalling Facebook really save battery?

also

Obviously since I uninstalled Facebook I have started to use it only from the browser, Safari to be more specific, and the reality is that in little or nothing the web version of the application distances itself. Perhaps we are in the age of applications and we have more installed than we should.

This not only translated into a significant decrease in battery consumption since I wasn't constantly searching for new notifications, but notably decreased the turns that I gave by the Timeline of Twitter. In addition, the Facebook application loads a significant amount of data just by opening it, something that does not happen in Safari, where it is dosed while we browse.

The reality is that the simple fact of uninstalling Facebook already represents an interesting saving in battery and mobile data, something that is not missed thanks to its web version. This has allowed me reach the end of the day with 10-15% more battery than you previously had, so the answer is yes, deleting Facebook saves battery ... are you willing?

Well, Miguel, at least it doesn't seem like you're going to set fire to an Apple hahaha, just kidding 😉

Well, what a coincidence, almost, the other day I uninstalled several applications, one of them the easy messenger, and one past how it was noticed in the battery; Now that I have read your article, it seems to me that I am going to encourage you to uninstall it face, since it has been seen for a long time by the browser, by Safari, yes, and in that way it can be interesting even for the clearing of the mind, which is important too, it will not be only the life of the iPhone that is important 😉

    A greeting!

Hello. Similarly uninstall the Facebook app because it is incredibly data and battery killer. Now I use the safari one, which by the way in my operator in my country is free. Thanks

    Hola!

I am not a faithful user of Facebook, however I checked them periodically, I did not like that app for many reasons, 1- The amount of storage 2- Battery 3- Little customizable 4- Data consumption.

I have always been very meticulous with notifications, so much so that I basically only use balloons and this allows me to save battery and have an independence from the phone.

I recommend Friendly + paid version, it allows you to block Facebook advertising, set the notification bar (On the web it moves), download the videos to send them to our friends on other networks, customize the aop, order the newest or most important news and include messeger without an additional app.

    Greetings from Costa Rica!

Hello, an annotation about the article, as far as I know the push notification service does not work per app, but it is a system service that keeps a socket open with Apple servers waiting for an empty payload to notify you of the new one. push. So there is not a process every x minutes or seconds checking for new pushes (in fact the pushes are instantaneous). I suppose that in order for it to have a real impact on the battery, it would have to be deactivated from the entire system (all apps). Another thing is that when a push is received, the screen turns on, we see the mobile, etc. But I don't think you mean that. Greetings 😉
