That eyebrow that occupies the upper central part of the screen of the new iPhone X has become a common element for other manufacturers, and most of the Android phones that are being introduced include it.
OnePlus has not been different with its new OnePlus 6, the new terminal that we have just seen, but it has been different from the others in something: admit that Apple is the one that has led the way in many aspects. While others already border on the ridiculous assuring that their "notch" is better than Apple's, OnePlus admits that Apple sets the trend, and above all it recognizes that in other respects it does it better than the others, as with the "chin" that all Android phones have and that does not exist on the iPhone X.
The OnePlus 6 notch includes the earpiece, the front camera, the brightness sensor and an LED for notifications. “Our notch is lower than that of the iPhone, higher than that of the Essential Phone. The size of the notch is the result of the decisions made by each company. We could not reduce the notch without losing sound quality in the earpiece. " When asked if the OnePlus 6 would have had a "notch" if the iPhone X had not included it, the answer was very clarifying: "Apple including new features means that the rest of the industry adopts them more quickly. We have access to the roadmap of all the screen manufacturers, as soon as they told us that they could cut the screen to create a 'notch' we had it clear ".
Another aspect that has helped us to clarify this interview from The Verge with Carl Peí is why Android phones all have that "chin" at the bottom of the screen. Contrary to what happens with the iPhone, all phones that are presented in the hands of other manufacturers, in addition to the upper "notch" have a larger frame area at the bottom of the device. Everything is explained by the manufacturing process of the screen. While the iPhone has a screen that folds in on itself to include the electronic devices that control it just behind it, in Android terminals those electronic devices are on that "chin" at the bottom of the screen.
