Opening and starting your car from the iPhone is close to being a reality

El Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC) has shared information about which companies are committed to improving connectivity and technology within our vehicles. This firm has published uA series of new specifications for a digital key system for the smartphone from Apple.

It is time to merge the technology of our mobile phones (always with us) with that of our cars, and it is that both hand in hand will be able to offer us without a doubt the best user experience. The automotive world is adapting rather slowly to this type of technologybut this is about to change.

It's been through Digital Key Release 1.0 where we have been able to know what is the idea of the CCC to connect our car with the smartphone on duty. All these brands are working hand in hand with Apple to turn our phone into the vehicle key: Audi, BMW, General Motors, Hyundai, LG, Panasonic, Samsung, Volkswagen, Continental, DENSO, Gemalto, NXP, and Qualcomm. It is good to see so many leading brands in their sectors working together to make our day to day much easier and especially in a vehicle, where we spend so many hours throughout our lives.

The intention is clear, that by taking advantage of the biometric recognition capabilities and the NFC chip we can open and start our phone, many brands such as Renault and Toyota have long used cards with an NFC chip that are used to open and start the vehicle without direct contact, without embargo, The security system is limited to the key holder and not its rightful owner, something that can be verified with the fingerprint reader or the Face ID of our iPhone, infinitely safer, we hope that soon this will become a reality.
