Opinion: Clarifying Yesterday's Conference

iphone-reception-pc-1043-rm-eng.jpg

I have tried to refrain from giving any opinion on yesterday's conference, but I have been reading nonsense all afternoon in most of the blogs, both Spanish and American. Add to that the responses from HTC, BlackBerry and Nokia. What I'm going to do in this post is give my personal opinion, not that of the blog or that of anyone in particular except me. That is why I ask you (in the face of comments) respect and education if you are going to refute.

Yesterday's conference left a bitter taste in my mouth for a reason: Apple gave that conference for shareholders and in a small part for users. Videos have been shown, posts have been written and many opinions have been given. In the videos we can see the "antennage" process, this is a process that occurs when a mobile phone is held in the hand. Humans are drivers and we also absorb mobile coverage. This happens in all mobiles to a greater or lesser extent, and to prove it, own experience:

I'm from Movistar (no comment) and I live in two parts of Spain depending on the time, one of the locations is in a town in Extremadura very close to the mountain and the other is in Madrid (South Zone). In Extremadura I always have (wherever it is) all the 3G coverage bars with my iPhone 3G (the same for GPRS coverage), whether I have it in hand or loose. This is due to the fact that the coverage is very high, but this does not happen in Madrid, there I often have all the GPRS bars but with a lot of interference when I make calls, it is a terrible coverage area. As for 3G, if the iPhone is on a table or on the bed, it has 3 or 4 bars and in my hand it stays at 2 or 3 bars and sometimes it loses all coverage. This happens in 3G and in almost any phone.

In the iPhone 4 it happens, to iSpazio it happened, to Gizmodo, to Customer as well and, for example, to EsferaiPhone it did not happen in such a significant way and even stated that it happened to him. This is because of the coverage areas, I still do not have the iPhone 4 but when I have it I am convinced that in Extremadura I will not have problems and in Madrid I will.

So far Antennage, the problem with the iPhone is not this, it is the short circuit. When we take the iPhone by the "point of death" there is a small short circuit and, in theory, neither the Wifi, nor the GPS nor the 3G or anything else works. This will have to be demonstrated when I have it in my hands but I repeat, in theory it is what happens when we join the two antennas with our hand. My theory is that Apple has changed the iPhone 4, applying an insulating layer to the antenna so that this does not happen. Obviously they will not recognize it since it would be necessary to change about 2 million iPhones. And I think that in Spain we will have the new ones.

After all this I can say that yesterday's conference was silly since Apple only explained the Antennage and not the short circuit. Other phones were shown to have it too, no matter how much Nokia, HTC, BB say no. Apple was wrong to compare, but it was necessary to show it. Everyone lost coverage and that is undeniable, all mobiles have Antennage but none the short circuit. That is where the Bumper comes in, by putting a plastic on the antenna we do not cause the short circuit with the hand and the antennas do not touch. If Apple has corrected the error with the insulating layer on the antenna, it would only have to give the Bumper (in theory) to the first iPhones but to avoid recognizing that they have modified something and to avoid more criticism they give it to everyone until September 30 and then you will see (that was declared yesterday in the round of questions).

Giving away the Bumper is a very good option, especially considering that a large majority had already planned to buy it. And let's not fool ourselves when we say that putting a "piece of plastic" on an expensive mobile to fix it does not seem like a solution. Of course, it is something not very orthodox but most of us protect the iPhone with covers, adhesives, etc ... and if it fixes a small flaw, all the better. Apple has created an antenna that receives the maximum coverage for being wide and external, and as I have mentioned it has a fault that is fixed with a cover that they give us.

I will buy an iPhone 4, it seems to me the best Smartphone; It is fast, the software is the best, the Hardware is the same and the combination of everything ... I had planned to buy the Bumper and an invisible protective layer so whether I have problems or not I will not have them, the only thing that does not make me funny is having problems with the iPhone 4 Dock or with a thicker Dock connector, but come on, nothing worrisome.

As for the conference, it was more to calm shareholders than to calm users. The problem is when you trust a blog more than a 34-year-old company with thousands of engineers. I am the editor of this blog and I also study engineering and I have to say that most of those who write in the blog do not know anything, they do not know telecommunications or industrial design (some do, depending on their work), but Apple engineers do. As an aspiring engineer and as a blogger I think that if they doubted my work after 4 or 5 years of career it would piss me off and that happened yesterday at the conference.

Steve and also Scott were somewhat pissed off at the press (with the blogs) for the scandalous way of treating the subject and had to defend themselves. Steve said that they cared about users, that they wanted the best, and that their iPhone wasn't perfect but neither were the others. In this case, throwing stones at other people's roofs was justified because the only reason why the iPhone 4 has had such an impact with the Antennage has been because of the way it advertises the revolutionary antenna, which has the best of the old and the new: of the old "take" that is long and is out, and of the new that sticks out on the phone. A small flaw (not the Antennage but the short circuit) has anyone and they are going to correct it with a free cover (or with the supposed modification), in any case the treatment of the press, of the blogs is despicable and that was seen yesterday in the round of questions in which Steve had to answer the same thing over and over again, plus the questions went very reluctantly.

After all this roll, I will buy my iPhone 4, I will not regret it (those who do return it) and the way in which it is being treated and talking about Apple seems like bullshit to me, this morning I read that Apple is no longer the same as when it made only computers; Please, you just have to look at the other smartphones, SSOOs and computers to realize that the Apple brand is of quality and that its products are the best, I would not be able to change my iPhone and I have something very clear: when I buy my 4 I will do all the analysis that I can to show that everything that is being said has been much delayed from reality.

    Excellent valuation ...
I am one of the lucky ones who is ENJOYING THE IPHONE 4 since June 24 ...
It is an exceptional phone, it is true that if you touch the damn part, the coverage is lost, but it does not disappear! and for now no short-circuit problem with wifi or any other connection, it works WONDERFUL….
I also have to say that to lose coverage you have to take it reluctantly, that is, you have to touch the point well touched ... otherwise, nothing happens ... the bars are reduced but the phone continues to work just as well and without interference ...
There will be many people against or in favor, as you say, but what is clear is that no one is obliged to buy it, and those who are not satisfied should return it.
You can see the quality of their products from afar !!

100% agree. With 3G I have not had any problems, and if we "fix" the 4 with a cover then nothing has happened. I am anxiously waiting for it to arrive in Peru, we can happily choose between two companies Movistar and Claro.

    Good exhibition… reading is appreciated.

As the colleague said, whoever has doubts about not buying it has enough, talking or writing nonsense will not fix the problems with the terminal ... I for my part have it since it came out in UK Libre, for now it is perfect, I have not noticed nothing strange in reference to the 3GS, and yes, if you hug it it loses a bar or two, so what? I have tried to do the same with the 3GS and with other mobiles and the same thing happens, I usually talk several hours a day and so far I have not missed any calls and that I am in small towns (towns) of Córdoba.

I said, whoever has problems to return it and whoever has doubts not to buy it, I think things are that simple, complicating them is up to us.
    regards

Well friend, in a few words, as a user the conference did not provide me with the answers I expected and as you say it left us with a bitter taste in the mouth of how they are handling the matter. The "yellowness" in the different blogs is to be expected considering all the expectations that this device generated and finally, there are few who would be willing to return their iPhone.

In any case, I hope they have applied an insulating cover to reduce the problem of loss of cover ...

Well, I have to say that I was in London a couple of weeks ago and I went to the apple store, as you already know they have everything there and I checked the coverage on the iPhone 4 by pressing at the point of death as you say and did not lose he didn't lose the wifi or anything.
I don't know if the ones you have there will be modified or not but I assure you that those went perfectly, Greetings

I am a lucky owner of an iPhone 4, I agree with you that all this was treated with a lot of yellowishness, I can confirm that in fact the phone loses signal when you grab it from the union of the antennas and it is uncomfortable to be fixing that it does not touch the antenna because otherwise the calls hang a lot in poor coverage areas.

I remind you that the main function of the device is that of a PHONE, and we cannot minimize the way you do things because it is a device that is not really cheap, and the only alternative that Apple gives is that of give you a cover. That means that the PHONE has a serious design problem, something that Apple does not recognize, and the only thing that argues is that other phones have the same error but I remind you that the price of the iPhone is much higher than that of other phones, for what you hope that at least does not have such serious structural errors.
With this I am not saying that the iPhone is not the best smartphone, because if it is, if not that as a consumer you cannot allow a company like Apple to sell you a defective product and the only thing it tells you is that it is going to give you a band.
Be careful not to confuse things and change their perspective to each person what they deserve, and in this case a tug of the apple to stop being so superb and recognize things and a true solution.

My iPhone 4 arrived yesterday and I have tried it without a bumper, holding it with both hands inside the house and I did not lose a line, I have a better call connection than with my 3g and according to the serial number it is from week 26 of production and I do not see any layer on the antenna, I will be commenting to you but for the moment perfect. Of course if they give me the money back for the bumper better than better hehehe.
Greetings to all, and congratulations for the blog to those responsible, I follow it every day.

Very good comment, I already have an iPhone 4 for a few days and the first thing I did when I bought it was to take a case too. I have not realized that little problem if I have not read it in the blogs, also the vast majority use them with a case to protect their equipment and even better if it helps to fix this small failure. I am 100% satisfied with the iPhone 4.
Please do tests with the wifi antenna, compare it with the 3Gs and the iPhone 4 is much better.

No offense or anything but apparently it seems as if it were that you only use apple, you live on apple and apple pays you something to do this type of clarification.

Ok now my point of view, first of all we must remember that it has a touch screen, pontente hardware, blah blah blah what we are buying is a CELL PHONE or MOBILE what we are interested in is CALLING. apart from the functions of an ipod touch. Well I must consider that it is ugly to compare with the others when you do not see yourself in the mirror in reference to Apple mentioning the other phones, apart there is a BB bold 9700 in my house and I did the test that of Apple and it turns out that I did not see any loss of signal and I have a 3gs here too and neither has passed and I'm in Sto. Dgo, Dominican Republic. so it may be operator problems.

Another part is with respect to blogs, first of all it is easier for me to get away from pages like this «Actualidad Iphone"What Apple says since we are the consumers and the ones who test while Apple's "Engineers" only do some certain tests is all we can see with this issue of the Apple antenna that apparently they never saw it in their evidence, so I don't think you should throw bloggers to the ground either, for example Appleesfera, I trust them with my eyes closed because they do know.

And if I also study engineering and from the beginning they teach you that an engineer solves problems.

Therefore putting a band on it is not something very logical to say since you paid a lot just to have a defective phone then.

And I have been a user of all manufacturers except HTC and PALM but then I have tried all of them and I am satisfied so please do not forget that we want a cell phone.

I can't quite understand why someone without specific training in RF can't comment on the huge design error of Apple's engineers.

It doesn't take an expert to realize that the GSM-WIFI antenna short-circuit error is a tremendous and unforgivable design error.

In fact I am sure that more than one head will have rolled in the design groups.

Or is it necessary to attach the degree in Telecommunications to see and understand it?

  18.   marc_m24 said

I do not entirely agree with you, I think this comment is from a person who is pro apple.

It is true that Apple is a great brand, it has some extraordinary music players and computers, but when it comes to mobile phones they are new.

The iphone 4 is the first apple mobile that I like and I could buy, before this, the RIM and HTC phones had a clearly superior quality.

But as they say, nobody makes perfect cell phones, and what I like about apple is that each version improves and improves.

When I see it in the store, I'll see if it's a good buy or what ...

good post the only thing you need is to have an iphone 4 so you can give your opinion of it, I really don't care much what others say, it just bothers me a little that they get carried away so much by what they see there Without being able to check it, etc, I get my iPhone 4 in two weeks I am from Venezuela so I will be giving my opinion on the coverage here, I use movistar (hahaha) so we will see, and I think that Apple did not say anything about the short to avoid more talk and for sure that problem has already been solved with the recovery that is talked about so much, and as apple says if you don't like it, you have a month to return it

Mercedes cannot put a car on the market, sell 2 million units, and after two weeks realize that when starting the car with the right hand it suffers a short circuit that blocks the injection system.

Whatever you say, there is no justification for a pronoun company like Apple to have that GARRAFAL failure, because I am apple to death and surely a lot more than half of those who write here, but at the time of the failures in Renown is useless, from my point of view they should force you to change all the iPhone 4 sold by the "supposedly fixed".

And since you are talking about the fact that surely many of us who speak here have no idea of engineering or anything, it is not necessary to be an engineer to know the amount of tests, approvals, regulations, laws that a product must comply with and pass before taking it out to the market.

In my opinion Apple is not a 3-year-old child who does not know what he is doing, it is a very large company with a giant group of "engineers" who (I REPEAT) have no justification for this failure, although of course they did the tests on the iPhone with latex or vinyl gloves is another story xDDDD.

I still believe that they deserve a lesson, what's more, I think that if Nokia, Samsung or something like that happened this, they would put a package and a lesson of 3 pairs of% »· $ ·» # @ and they would make them replace the affected terminals, you know it's true.

  22.   Abel said

The problem that a company has when it is the center of all eyes, especially of people with technical knowledge (computer scientists and engineers) is that they look for you even the smallest error. I'm sure that 90% of the people who buy the new Iphone 4G neither know nor will they find out about this "big problem" that they have with the antenna.
In addition, when the value of your share (Apple) has risen since the launch of the first iPhone from $ 55 to the current $ 250 (we are going that with $ 6.000 in June 2007 today we would have 354% more, about $ 27.240), I think you have to take care of the shareholder.

  23.   Mundi said

As they say that short circuit does not occur, I will not know until I have it.

  24.   Ricardo said

Finally someone with brain! 99% of those who have written about this have no knowledge and the worst thing is that they do not even have an iPhone 4! I will also give my opinion when I receive mine. And I also hope that blogs are not digging their own grave by writing (many times) for yellowishness and for appearing and not with concrete evidence. I am not saying that the problem does not exist. Simply if it were so serious we would already have 2.9 million phones returned of the 3 million sold and it is not like that. They do not believe?

  25.   Paco said

I already commented the same thing that you express in the comments of this blog. And you know what I think, that at first Apple did not give importance to the antenna, due to the fact that it was free publicity, and you know the saying, that they talk a lot about you even if it is bad. What happens is that it was already getting out of hand: assemblies, declarations of user associations, comparisons with windows vista, etc, etc. Both you and I know that apple's failure with the antenna does not affect the essence of its operation or sales successes…. but unfortunately investors know the technology in which they invest, and when they hear noise they fear, and apple has wanted to tackle these fears and get the situation out of their hands.

One thing that seems curious to me is the debate that exists for and against using the covers. There are people who think that putting a case for a few euros is making the phone lose in aesthetics and social 'status' and that putting something with little value on the phone is making the set lose value. On the other hand, there are people who think that they should protect the investment made and protect it with covers and protective films. Personally I am of the second opinion above all. I want something as valuable and useful to me as that phone to last me a long time. But aside, I see the arguments against the covers a bit absurd. How much do they think is worth, for example, the home button…. what a case, and not for that reason the phone loses aesthetics or value or anything. There are cases that are very ugly aesthetically, but on the contrary there are cases that make the iphone win aesthetically. But deep down it is somewhat subjective. So if you are lucky enough to like a case aesthetically, you fulfill two missions, improve aesthetically and protect.

Totally agree. I was beginning to think that no one would give a coherent opinion. We are human, and when someone stands out above others, there are always a few who want to sink it either out of envy or because they do not tolerate very well that there is someone better than them and succeed. There are many of us who like the way apple works and we have been stunned by all these attacks, the vast majority of which are exaggerated. I'm an engineer, but you don't have to be to figure out if something isn't working the way it should. The bad thing is that the vast majority have given negative opinions without even having bought an Iphone 4, or having tried it. Call 3 million idiot customers for buying a phone with a not cheap 2-year contract that supposedly has a catastrophic failure and not return it. The Iphone 4 is going to exceed the sales of its predecessor.

I have been saying it since the first day, 23 days ago that I have the iphone 4 and it is a marvel, a cocada and a great terminal, as I said repeatedly I DO NOT HAVE THE MINIMUM COVERAGE PROBLEM, and not only did I say it not that you post a video where you can see that you take it as you take it, put your hand where you put it, the coverage does not lower a single line. I get tired of saying that I had no coverage problems and therefore I heard about everything, do I have to say that I have problems with coverage when in fact I do not have them ????. I am tired of saying that the ATT network is a disaster, that it works on the 1900 Mhz frequency. and that accuses the problem immensely more than the European GSM network, but everything he said was a lie, curiously those who did not have the iphone 4 knew more and better how I was doing.

What there is is a lot of Antiapple, a lot that I want and cannot pay 739 euros for an iPhone 4 and how it cannot and envy corrodes it, criticizes the one who has it and discredits the terminal without having the slightest idea of how the iPhone is going 4, of these there are quite a handful, pure envy and nothing more.

I am glad a lot of what is happening to Nokia is going to be expensive, very expensive to have released its famous advertisement mocking how to take the iPhone 4, now and since yesterday YouTube is full of videos of the E71 in which See how he loses coverage, he is very well employed, he has what he deserves, neither more nor less, My great doubt is what he will do now, will he return the money to the users? Are you going to find a solution to the loss of coverage of your terminals? Is it going to be at the height of Apple ?, in finsssssss

I have recorded a video with a nokia N95 to test if it loses coverage and guess if it loses it and I live in a place that the signal is excellent and I did it with a nokia 5300 and the same thing is only left with a line and there are occasions that it loses the Signal completely what my iPhone 3G does not do, which only loses one even if I grab it with both hands.
here is the video of the N95

I have been easy 10 years with apple products and it has always been perfect, now looking at the antenna issue I think that if it is true, obviously it is a big failure, in fact I think it is something that Apple should have taken care of a lot more but I also say What mobile without putting your hands in the area of the antenna does not lose some coverage?

I have had motorolas, nokias, lg, samsung ... and many have failed in more serious things than losing some signal ... (which some have lost at times, and because of the coverage of the telemarketer ... let's not forget that one is going to be a very decisive point regarding the terminals with failure), then we will see if there is a "new" manufacturing run as they begin to comment out there….

The case, I think that people get involved in Pro apple, and Contra apple… and gentlemen, this is like another product, if you like it with its pros and cons you buy it and if not then you choose another brand and nothing happens. .or not?. How many people bought an Xbox 360 and it melted with the famous problem of the 3 red rings ??… .and people bought it =…. (I the 1st) and it melted and how Apple gave me a solution… fix it and in my case, how was it not possible ... a new one ... well, the iphone does not melt ... an antenna fails and they give you the option ... or bumper or refund of your money ... what is the problem? ... ..

life is simpler and deep down… ..that is a mobile… there is life out there

Finally someone who is dedicated to making things clear, I am very tired lately of not stopping to read no more comments if not blog posts as you say, and supposedly Apple-themed blogs, messing with them directly, when we know that that person is writing they have no idea what they are talking about, that they are only reading an English blog or watching a video and dedicating themselves to taking toads out of their mouths, and I am not referring to other blogs such as Engadget, Appleweblog (where I feel sorry for this blog so so misinformed always).

It is clear that the iPhone loses coverage, but which mobile does not lose it? We put mobiles in an elevator to see which is the handsome one that does not lose coverage? It is that I really find it amazing, the way they treat Apple a company that has been offering quality for years and years and because a couple of "smart" because they are nothing other than "smart" dedicate themselves to criticizing the iPhone without being objectives, the rest of the world has to follow like goats ?. That the iphone 4 loses coverage? we agree ... but which mobile does not lose it by covering the antenna? It has been demonstrated in a lot of videos that are on YouTube that you call whatever your name is, you lose coverage ... you can call yourself Nokia or HTC or Samsung or whatever you want, the fact is that the internet is full of videos showing that any company can lose coverage.

What Apple has done comparing the iPhone with other mobiles, to begin with when it began to list the mobiles it was going to say, it already began by saying that those mobiles were very "good" but that it had chosen some to give examples. Giving examples is necessary when you want to show that the same thing happens to the rest of the world as you do, because you can talk a lot, but if you don't put facts on the table, nobody believes you, and the amazing thing is that they still don't believe Apple , is that this is a joke now ... I mean that Apple designs the best mobile on the market right now and because a couple of "smart" start criticizing the iPhone it turns out that it already happens to be rubbish and silly if you have it .

I honestly do not understand this crazy world, where the one who makes himself heard the loudest wins and the rebate with the greatest number of sheep (it seems that they are grouped together to give the apple strong).

I respect your opinion and I will not argue with you. My comment is about some doubts that have arisen: after all this time hearing about the happy little point that separates one antenna from another and that if it is touched it is supposed to be fatal, a doubt assails me: why does it only happen when touching that point, that is to say when making contact between both antennas with the finger? By placing your hand around the phone, won't we end up touching one antenna with one finger and another with another, and therefore bridging them in the same way? And if really touching both antennas with your hand the loss of coverage happens, did Apple really not realize it, or did they realize it and have also removed the terminal hoping that no one else would notice? And finally, if in an area with full coverage the quality is terrible (interference or something, I imagine, as you say happens to you in Madrid), shouldn't it be partly the operator's fault for having areas so poorly covered (and over in the capital ...)?
Well, I feel the extension, but they are doubts that assail me and that by not being able to explain them to me, it makes me see something strange and exaggerated in this whole matter.

But because of the little experience I have of people's opinions, I know that what there is is a lot of complaint and too much ignorance about the subject being discussed.
As a regular visitor to your blog, could you tell us your opinions based on real tests when you have the Iphone 4 or when you can check it with a terminal at your fingertips?

My name is Henry Lozano and I also publish when I can things here in this very important forum, although I live in New York… I am Hispanic and I have been working with Apple products for a long time and let me tell you that your blog is very good, and although you should wait to have your iphone 4 in your hand let me give you my opinion I have mine since the day of launch ...... exactly what you say happens in low coverage areas the fsalla becomes more serious as with any other phone but for example in My job, in downtown, 2 blocks from where the world trade center used to be, I have no problem so I took it with both hands… ..and I'll tell you something interesting, although the signal is reduced, I can continue browsing and using my GPS without problems (I'm talking about the metropolitan area in downtown New York) …… It is also very real that most of the users of the iPhones have always used a bumper…

This is a battle against apple of the other smartphone manufacturers, if they think that by attacking the antenna, they are going to get me to not buy my iphone 4, they have it clear.
The only way to make me change my iPhone for another smartphone is to get a better one than Apple's, and I think they are millions of light years away from that.
Although we all make mistakes, the iPhone is currently the best on the market.
So now good APPLE and do not stop surprising us.

Ok, I think it's perfect the time you have dedicated to defending a company with many millions of dollars earned thanks to its good work and its not so many good things, indeed, surely if they locate your blog they will copy it and post it on their web, (now I will waste my time) but ... have you thought, for example, of the person of medium-low economic condition, who with great enthusiasm (and money in times of crisis) who buys his brand new iphone 4 or the one who gives away with the thousands of doubts that he thinks "if he will like it or I have succeeded with this that for me is so strange", those that after loading it and nervous orders start to use it and bang! Goodbye coverage ..., do you think they will console themselves with being 1% of a defective device? Since they do not know telecommunications and others, well they will have to take it carefully, or else, we put a "chunk" of plastic and throw ... Please, I don't think this is the banana republic (or apple tree in this case) and that because they are they change the phone or patch it up and that's it ... Really, how far will we set the quality bar? A company like Apple, with a quality that we are accustomed to "savoring", do you think it is okay to have a failure in the most essential of a mobile, the coverage? You and those who support you in a "if you played the china well ... call Apple, that they change it and pray that they do not send you the same model, as it has not happened to me ... aaaah it feels ...". Seriously, your blog has been working and it is your opinion (like mine), but I don't think this is such that there is no firm solution, at the level of a company like Apple and on top of that they start to fall from a donkey to other companies (divert attention) the end user staying as at the beginning of the press conference, "my phone has turned out to be defective and now I have to bother changing it, patching it, etc ...". Finally, I believe that in the times in which we live, certain jokes should not be allowed, both by Apple, Nokia, BB, Sony, Samsung, LG ... and other indefensible multinational companies. Thanks to the Internet, you can listen to anyone, with or without knowledge (the coverage you lose, that understands even the less "technological") I would just like to say to Apple (the other companies only have to change the name of the terminal ) I want to buy an Apple Iphone 4, not an Eipol Aifon 4 of doubtful functionality.

Dear friend… Why say what you want to hear (PQDLQE)… ..
I just have to tell you one thing about that person from a lower middle social class who bought a phone in times of crisis and did not feel satisfied ……
    «If you don't want an iPhone 4… .. don't buy it….
    And if I buy it and it doesn't feel right… .. return it …… .. return it …… .. »

I do not have anything more to add.

I was able to buy the iPhone here in Tokyo but in the end I decided to wait for the white model, I hope that as it is new it is revised, and they have applied the protective layer, even if having a mobile like the iPhone 4 without a case ...

I think the issue is not whether the phone looks good with a case or not, or whether you want to use it or not. We must bear in mind that the iPhone is a "Telephone" which at any time will be in an area of medium coverage and under certain circumstances it may be necessary to make a call either for work, personal, or even for emergency and that the telephone fails it sucks.

We must understand that no matter how beautiful, that even though it has many apps, its main function is to be a Phone (If not better buy an iPod touch), and the one that Apple released to millions of consumers is a DEFECTIVE product. which does not have the quality that one would expect not only from a company like Apple, but also as a buyer the product does not have the quality for which you are paying a good sum of money.

Well, henry, it's good that your experience with the iPhone has been good, which for me has varied a bit, I just want to tell you that trying to return the iPhone is a real martyrdom in addition to the fact that the repackaging takes a long time, I only wish you luck The day you travel or are in an area with medium or low coverage and you have the urgency to make a call and your phone fails, surely at that time you will be a satisfied consumer. The good thing is that you will have many apps to entertain you in what you find an area with better coverage.

For me it is good that the community criticizes this Apple failure. Users are there to enjoy the products, not to mend them. In fact, it is better to have an ear plug from time to time. It is not right for Apple to believe that its public is unconditional and less so with such restrictive, arrogant policies (you just have to look at the icon that they put on a PC on a network seen from the Mac) and even the money they develop. They have good products and many point better ways than what they actually offer. They dazzle with their design, they create anxiety in the user in a shameless way with the lack of stock (intentional), they put the news drop by drop to sell you what should have come the previous year as a novelty this year, etc ...

Although these behaviors are typical of the business world, Apple exercises them in a very shameless way and also takes them to the limit like no other and I constantly see that the veil of hypnotism that it generates does not allow criticism of its errors because it is clear that it has them . I am a bit sorry because in reality many of their products, according to which fields, are highly recommended, it is regrettable that they have this attitude.

This is the most iphonefan I have read lately. With my 3gs (after 2g and 3g) I think that the iphone is spectacular in several respects, but it is clear that the coverage is not its strong suit. This is easy to see when you are with people who use Nokia, LG, HTC or any other brand. I was hoping this would improve with 4 but clearly not. I do not like cases, less with such a nice phone so that is not a solution for me. What you study does not matter (I am a civil engineer with more than 13 years of experience and I worked at Movistar in Chile) what matters is that I am a user and I know what I want. We can fool ourselves but up to a point. Iphone does not have and will not have the leadership in the phone aspect. I know people who have an iPhone and an old Nokia for areas where you are not saturated with antennas.
As you started your note, I am charged by people who are not very objective and who are blind… ..iphone is beautiful and in several aspects productive but as a telephone it lacks a lot.

Well, excuse everyone, but I think that the opinion you make in this post is very wrong, first because you cannot give an opinion without knowing what you are talking about 100% and that is if you do not have the iPhone 4 or at least you do not. It has been tested, it is not possible to give an objective opinion but one based on the experience of others, I have the iPhone 4 and no matter how much I have tried to lose coverage, I cannot, so I can say that I am very satisfied with my mobile, But beware we cannot cover the sun with a finger and say that it is a plot against Apple since they themselves have recognized the problem and believe that by giving a protection (bumper) the problem is solved, I am going to buy a car and then I notice that you have a problem with the seats and claim, why give me some "free" seat covers, should I be happy? And the same applies for any product and even more so if you can think that they took out the iPhone and knew about the problems it could have and by chance they take out a protection that only protects the strongest part that is the frame and does not protect the front and the back that are made of glass, what a coincidence right? As you can see, those of Apple tried to deceive their customers and this leaves me a bad taste, since if this were correct because all the large electronics companies that sell devices with defects, in the end they are small defects, nothing happens , but that if you have to pay them expensively and as if they were really perfect and sorry, I'm not an engineer (I'm a lawyer) but it's pure common sense.

But people like the fuck pick up the phone?
I am going to explain how you have to take an iPhone 3G, 3GS and 4, these phones are taken in such a way that the APPLE LOGO is seen, what sense does it make to take it in such a way that you cover the iPhone and nobody knows that you are a privileged user of a magnificent iPHONE 😉

icaldela, you have an iphone 4 and you say you have no coverage problem, what more proof than yourself. If there is a problem, it is a problem, and everything is magnified because Apple usually has very few bugs and when it has one, the information bomb explodes. I'm sure the problem is tiny and you are one of the many users who demonstrate it.

  52.   PEDIATRIC said

I share your opinion, everything that is being mounted also seems absurd to me. And I repeat the usual, what company gives you 30 days to test a product and return it if you are not satisfied? I will also get an iPhone 4, also with a clear bumper, but not for the antenna, but for protection, and I will not return it, for sure.

  53.   icaldela said

In my opinion INDIANA is the opposite, as I said, that I do not have the problem does not mean that it does not exist, what bothers me is that the problem is minimized, if it is proven that the iPhone has a defect, it fails, problem, deficiency or whatever you like to call it, I believe that it is fair first that they recognize it and not that it be said that they are not the only ones with that and that they assume the economic and legal consequences, as for example it has been seen that large automotive companies have found faults in any of the parts of their vehicles because it is an obligation to change the defective part at no cost and deliver the car in the conditions that were offered when it was sold, many will say that it is not the same because in a vehicle it may be put into risk life but it is not true, it has even been cases that the fault is in some part of the stereo / radio or another that does not put at risk but is only about the malfunction of the same.

That is why I believe that it is fair that they give buyers what they really purchased or if they are going to sell products with defects that is proportional to the price, that would be correct and not that they "give you" a protector and that they really are not going to to give away since we well know that Apple is not the first time that it does it, it is that you pay for the product and it will discount the cost for future purchases with the same Apple, in my opinion it is not even a gift, but that everyone thinks what want.

    Hello everyone.
Tell you that I DO have the iPhone 4 and I agree almost 100% with what is stated in this article.
I have not noticed any problem with the coverage and I assure you that mine is one of the "firsts" since I bought it in the UK the first day so if this short-circuit problem is like that, mine must have it.
I think the problem comes more from the fact of the poor coverage or lack of intensity of the same that AT&T has in the United States than anything else.
I really do not think it is a "real" problem because if we stick to the figures (more than three million units sold) the number of returns would have been massive, which has not happened. I can really assure you that this new iPhone is really accurate, fast and a delight to use… and yes, in addition to all that, I can make and receive calls.

Well, I bought a milk refrigerator this week, the kind with two doors that put ice cubes in it, when they came to put it at home I had a problem, the cable that goes to the plug is bare and it depends on how it is placed. short circuit and if my little 5-year-old son walks into the kitchen and touches the bottom of the refrigerator he gets cramps and the poor little boy is left unconscious on the kitchen floor and when he wakes up he starts crying. Call the company where I bought the refrigerator annoyed and they gave me a solution, they were going to send me by express courier a roll of insulating tape the same color as the cable, so that I could cover the cable and the problem would not happen anymore.

PS 1. If a company makes a mistake what it has to do is solve the problem and not put a patch.
PS 2. If the cinca detached from the cable by the heat comes off, will the company give me another one?

I think it is not fair that consumers have to bear the design problems of any company

The other day I saw that the movers had grated the refrigerator with the door frame and so that the scratch they gave it is not visible, they have provided me with magnets for free to put on the refrigerator door, I am very happy because They are magnets of the Spanish selection and how it is fashionable, well, apart from the fact that I no longer see the raspon (although I know it is there below) I have customized my refrigerator with the Spanish selection. LONG LIVE THE RED OHE OHE OHE.

Carazox, I have a very wise solution in the style of my friend Steve Jobs, because your son does not touch the refrigerator there, and because of the scratch, look how generous in giving you some magnets if they know about marketing, but the good thing is that yours It is not so serious that it is not a defect, it is a fault since it continues to cool no matter where you take it from.
