Currently in the App Store we can find a large number of applications that allow us to enjoy our favorite podcast without having to use the native application. These applications offer us interesting functions not available in the application designed by Apple, hence they have a gap for users who listen to this type of audio document practically every day. Overcast just got a new update that has renewed the user interface, improving the operation and the features that it offered us so far.
For starters, the icon has been slightly redesigned by removing the shading that it had in the background to meet Apple's requirements in this regard even more. It also offers us a new widget with which we will be able to control the playback of podcasts. The peek & pop feature is also present in this update, showing us a preview of a specific podcast. By swiping to the right, in the list of podcasts pending listening, we will see new audio and speed controls, an adjustment that was previously only found inside each podcast
Marco Arment, Overcast developer and Instapaper creator, The income system you get from the use of this application has changed again. Last year, it opted to implement a voluntary patronage system, with which users could pay if they saw fit to use the application, an application that did not contain any type of advertisements. Shortly after, it began to show advertising to all those users who had not opted for this system. With this new update, Arment opts again for an advertising system to be able to use the application for free, advertisements that we can eliminate if we checkout and pay 9,99 euros.
