Virtually any idea can be patented in the United States. For that reason, companies in the North American country patent everything, even what may seem silly to other mortals or what at first has nothing to do with the company that patents it. The latest Apple patent We would be very surprised if we weren't used to seeing patents on all kinds of products, although we cannot say that we are not surprised by anything at all.
It was Recode who has discovered this latest Apple patent, filed in 2015 and awarded last Monday. It is a giant flowerpot. Yes. But, from what it seems, this pot will not be any smart device related to home automation or anything similar, if not that what Apple has wanted to protect are the pots present in some apple stores, as you can see in the image you have after the cut.
Apple patent to protect the design of a flower pot
These are the pots that appear in some Apple Stores:
And this is the patented design that has been awarded this week:
Considering that what Apple is protecting is part of the decoration of their physical storesDoes it make sense that the Cupertino people have patented these pots? Well I think the answer is yes. And why do I think so? Well, although practically everything can be patented in the United States, I think that patenting how the furniture and decoration of a store are distributed would not be an easy task, so then we see images like the following that remind us a lot of an Apple Store:
Considering what we have seen, although it may seem to many of us that something does not make sense, large companies do nothing without a reason. And, well, if Samsung or Xiaomi want to put plants in a container like Apple's and call them S-Planter or MiPlanter they will have to give explanations before a judge.
What a stupid thing…
