PayPal enables payment by QR code for small businesses

The measures we constantly take to reduce the impact of COVID-19 on the population are all welcome. In this case we find that PayPal, one of the most popular payment platforms in the world, joins the idea of helping small and medium businesses that are suffering from this situation so much due to lack of means. Despite the fact that payment by card is highly popular in Spain, any idea is welcome and PayPal has decided to help the world in its own way. Any company or store can use a QR code to charge customers through PayPal.

These entrepreneurs will be able to create a QR code through the PayPal application that will allow them to print it and thus place it anywhere in the store they deem appropriate. Users simply by scanning that QR code will enter the amount they must pay and will make the transaction instantly. The possibility of scam or security problems is minimal since it is carried out at the same time, both parties can verify it (to issue the corresponding ticket) and no personal information is transferred. An identical method to this has been in use in China for years, in fact, it is used there more than the use of cards.

Meanwhile, PayPal announces that SMEs will be able to benefit from this payment system completely free of charge until next September 13. No type of fee or commission will be charged for the transaction, but take note, from that day there will be a charge of 0,90% of the total transaction plus € 0,10 per transaction. It is definitely a fairly high rate if we take into account the rates offered by banks for data phones, but in the meantime, any alternative to charge without physical contact is welcome for businessmen and clients.
