Peel protects your iPhone without you hardly noticing it

Peel has been bragging about creating the thinnest cases for our iPhones for years. Their housings are ultra-thin, they hardly add thickness to your smartphone, and they always have very discreet designs. that allow you to enjoy the design of the iPhone without adding any unnecessary extras.

For the new iPhone XS, XS Max and XR we have their covers that fit perfectly, and screen protectors that complement the covers and that form a perfect set for those who want to protect their smartphone without noticing it. We have tested them and we tell you our impressions showing images of how they look on the XS Max.

Several designs with the same premise

Peel offers us several designs for its covers, but always keeping its principles intact: the less they are noticed, the better. I have been able to approve the transparent model and the translucent black. The first one leaves the design of the iPhone intact, and thanks to the minimum thickness you hardly notice that you are wearing anything. The second gives a matte look to the iPhone that I personally love. We also have two more translucent models, in silver and pink, and two shiny models, completely opaque, in black and white that are also spectacular. A latest model in matt matt black completes the Peel case collection.

Another important detail is the absence of any type of brand or logo on their housings. If you want to keep the design of the iPhone intact and that the apple on the back is visible, or only partially hidden, you can do it. And if you want to hide any Apple logo, too, but obviously without having to put up with the logo of any other brand.

Quality materials

They are not the first so thin cases that I have tried, and some we have already published on the blog. The first thing that you notice when you have already had several covers of this type in your hands is that the materials are different from those that you had tried so far. The transparent cover is soft on the sides, rigid on the back, that is, like other similar covers from other brands that are much thicker. The translucent black sleeve is stiffer, but is still flexible enough to be able to remove and put the cover on without fear of bending or breaking, as with others that I have tried.

The screen protector for its part is complete, no slits for the notch, or staying within millimeters of the limit of the screen leaving that horrible edge of conventional protectors. The protector reaches the limit of the screen so that between it and the Peel case there is hardly any virtual space left. These types of screen protectors are for me the only ones that I tolerate on my iPhone, because I forget that I am wearing them, the problem is that many covers end up lifting these protectors by the edges, but this does not happen with the Peel cover, since it is perfectly measured to complement the protector.

The transparency of the protector is also very important, and the touch. Like I said before, you forget you are wearing it, since you do not appreciate any variation between the color of the screen with the protector without it, and with the touch, more of the same. Of course you can continue using the 3D Touch of the screen without noticing that there are losses in the sensitivity of the screen to pressure with your finger.

Who wants to show off ...

If the cases are adjusted to the size of the iPhone to avoid an unnecessary increase in thickness, the same goes for the holes for the buttons, switches or speakers. The space left by these indentations is adjusted to a minimum, revealing the buttons that thus keep the sensation intact when pressed. In short, it seems that you will carry an iPhone with a skin of those that stick to change the color more than a protective case.

The end result is an iPhone that keeps its design almost intact, which looks like you're wearing "naked", but this comes at a price. Obviously the Peel cases are not the ones that offer the maximum protection, and that means that they are not suitable for those who have slippery hands or to give the iPhone to a small child, or at least I would not recommend them. Scratches and minimal drops will not be a problem, and the screen protector will perform its function against attacks on the screen, but you cannot expect sufficient cushioning against falls from a certain height.

Editor's opinion

The Peel cases and screen protector are the perfect accessory for those who want to protect their iPhone without noticing it, while keeping its thickness and design practically intact. The absence of any type of logo or brand and how perfectly fitted the cases are and all the details that leave connections, speakers and buttons free make them the perfect accessory for those who like the naked iPhone but are afraid that it will end up damaged. The variety of colors and finishes available, and the price of the covers and screen protector make them an almost mandatory purchase Unless you seek maximum protection. The price of the covers is € 22 and that of the protector is € 25 on the Peel website ()

Pros

  • Minimum thickness
  • Discreet designs without markings
  • Quality resistant materials

Well, the truth is that aesthetically it is fine but at a functional level it leaves much to be desired. You have to be cleaning the dust from my case, because if you don't, what happened to me happens to you, and that is that the iPhone begins to show deterioration in the paint, like stains because of this.
And here comes the second downside: If you are removing and putting the cover on, then it deforms, leaving it larger than it started and will never give you that initial fit.

This problem of accumulating dust is common to all cases, you always have to remove them from time to time to clean the phone. As for what you say about the deformation ... it will be necessary to see how they withstand the passage of time but these materials are not like those of others ... it gives me that they will withstand better

    Thanks for the review Luis.
I have one more question ...

Is the clear case completely transparent or does it have the characteristic matte white touch?
Also if the touch is somewhat rubbery like silicone or on the contrary is something rigid like tpu?

    Thank you again!

      It is completely transparent. The
Touch is somewhat rubbery on the sides.
