Apple is continually probing executives at other companies in search of a person who fits the company's needs and its future plans. The latest signing for the Cupertino-based company is named Peter Stern, who so far was working in Time Warner's cable division. Upon joining Apple, he will become report directly to iTunes CEO at present Eddy Cue. During the time he has spent working at Time Warner Cable, Stern has been involved in the conversations that the company had with Apple about the possibility of reaching an agreement with Apple to offer a joint television service, negotiations that as we all know never reached good port.
Stern left his job at Time Warner's cable division following its acquisition earlier this year by Chrter Communications. Before leaving your job, Stern performed high-level corporate development and strategy functions in the company, taking care of the acquisitions that the company has made in recent years on most occasions.
More recently, Stern helped implement a strategy geared towards improve customer service, with which Time Warner cable managed to attract a large number of subscribers after several years of decline.
Considering your experience in the cable industry, Stern can help Eddy Cue negotiate deals with television networks in case the company is still interested in launching a television service in the future. But As reported by The Wall Street Journal, Stern will be in charge of cloud services related to iTunes and Apple Music in addition to other products, so his signing does not correspond to the possible interest of the company to put its head in another sector.
