CarPlay is taking time to take off more than we would like to enjoy full integration between our car and iPhone. Fortunately, Pioneer has announced a firmware update for some of its radios, thus becoming the first manufacturer to sell equipment compatible with this technology from Apple.
The Pioneer models already enjoying CarPlay Thanks to this update they are the AVIC-F60DAB, AVIC-F960DAB, AVIC-F960BT, AVIC-F860BT and AVH-X8600BT. If you are one of the owners of any of these models, the new firmware is now available for download from the Pioneer support page so you just have to download it and install it following the appropriate procedure.
In addition to bringing CarPlay to radios that are already on sale, Pioneer has also used the occasion to launch a new model, the SPH-DA120 which is characterized by having a 6,2-inch screen and WVGA resolution as well as Mirrorlink support in case we do not have an iPhone and we have a competing smartphone. At the moment there is no specific release date for this Pioneer radio but it should arrive shortly.
Spotify now supports CarPlay
Spotify has benefited from the Pioneer announcement because it has become one of the first applications to support CarPlay.
