After several years on the market wireless chargers have become another element in home decor, but that does not mean that they are precisely pretty items that you like to show off.
Twelve South has wanted to give another twist in the design of the chargers and offers us a new product to charge our iPhone that is perfectly camouflaged in a photo frame: PowerPic. A decorative element and a charger for the iPhone in a single product that we have tested to tell you our impressions.
Quality as a brand of the house
When I first saw this new iPhone charger, my first thought was "Why hasn't anyone thought of it before?" A photo frame is an element that you can always place anywhere in the house, from your desk to your nightstand or a shelf. Be it black or white, either of the two options offered by the manufacturer is perfect in any location.
But such a product can be a very risky bet, because when you make an accessory that you want to show, either you do it very well or it's a complete fiasco. However, when we talk about Twelve South we know that the quality of the product will be beyond any doubt, and this time again confirms this premise. Of course the material used in the frame is wood, specifically New Zealand pine.
In addition, Twelve South wanted to go one step further, and for this it offers us an idea: use a background for the photo frame and an image that complements it on the iPhone. You can do that yourself, printing a 5 × 7 ”(13x18cm) photo and placing a wallpaper on your iPhone that complements it. Fast charging compatible with Qi devices
PowerPic supports iPhone fast charging, and more. It has a power of 10W (iPhone is only compatible with a maximum of 7,5W) and it works with any case you use as long as it is not thicker than 3mm. To start charging you just have to place the iPhone inside the frame, which is also a huge advantage because it is vertical and you can read the notifications that come to you without having to remove it from the base thanks to the Face ID unlocking.
Something that caused me doubts before I could test this PowerPic was if placing the iPhone would be difficult, or if it could fall off the frame at any slightest movement. There is not the slightest problem in this regard, since the inclination of the frame makes the iPhone perfectly stable and there is no risk of it falling, or at least, no greater than with any other vertical loader.
Editor's opinion
If you are looking for a different charger, which you can show off on your desk or in your living room, you will not find a better one than this Twelve South PowerPic. The quality of its materials and its design make it unique in its category, and if you also combine two photographs that complement each other, the end result is very effective. Only one negative point: it does not include the usb charger, but surely you have one stored in a drawer at home. Its price is € 89,99 on Amazon (link) which may seem expensive at first, but considering it's a photo frame and charger, the bills work out better.
