Reeder 4 is now available with bionic reading and new features

RSS readers have been growing in popularity for a few years now. These tools allow us to have all the media or sources that interest us in one place and access them in a couple of clicks. However, like streaming music services, there is also competition in these types of apps, so the number of updates is also higher.

This is the case of Reeder, an RSS resource management service that has been updated and has reached the version Reder 4. In this version many new features have been included, among which we highlight the integration of bionic reading, integration with icloud, improvements in the search service, previewing images on the main screen, etc.

A powerful and upgradeable app: Reeder 4

Reeder 4 it is available now for macOS and for iOS. One of the most important aspects for the developer is that both applications now use the same code. In this way, the simultaneous incorporation of new features in both applications will be easier, so that for the user this is a full-blown success. If we go to the update itself, we see a lot of news that we will try to comment on in the following lines.

First, the system has finally been integrated "Pull-to-refresh" to update items around the feed of RSS that we have in our application. In the article viewer, another gesture will take us to the next or subsequent article so gestures are more important in Reeder 4. On the main screen, with this update, we can already see the image that heads the articles in the central right part. In the settings, we can modify the size of the image and also if we want it to appear or not.

What is known as Bionic Reading, a form of arrangement of content that allows easier reading guiding the eyes through the text with artificial fixation points. As we see in the images in this post, there are more lyrics bold, which will guide our eyes more effectively and, according to this technology, has the objective of promoting a deeper reading and later understanding of the content we are consuming.

Because of the reviews that people are leaving, they are unhappy, paying to continue having the same thing, they have even removed things that they had in version 3, a slight face lift and little else, I bet they won't even let you see the news in full screen on iOS, at least I'm still with the latest beta, which is the free one.

I definitely prefer Fiery Feeds, it is better designed and with many options and much more mature, the roadmap for this 2019 looks very interesting.
