As we already mentioned in another post, here we bring you HAWX, one of the games that we were able to analyze and test during the last presentation of Gameloft.

En HAWX we will play an elite fighter jet pilot. HAWX's story is inspired by the novel of the same name by Tom Clancy, so the action is more than guaranteed.

Our main mission in the game will be to provide air support in the different missions of the game. With this in mind, as the game progresses, we find ourselves with different goals. In some cases we will have to protect other planes; in others, we will be tasked with shooting down a series of enemies in the air, with aerial battles worthy of the well-known Top Gun.

The game consists of 13 different missions, along with 13 scenarios that faithfully reflect 13 cities of the world, perfectly recreated. All the cities represented belong to the American continent.

In the visual section, the game offers us 3 different types of views:

  • View of the plane from above.
  • View from one side.
  • Interior view, from the cockpit.

We have to confess that since we were able to test the game, we have not been able to stop thinking about the great work that the people of Gameloft has done with HAWX. The graphics are just great, with effects during sunsets and nights that will blow us away. It is clear that they have wanted to exploit the graphics to the maximum by adding the effect Sonic Boom, an effect that will appear when we activate the maximum speed of our fighter.

[Note: The game's graphic effects can be appreciated at 100% of its performance on the iPhone 3GS and third-generation iPod Touch due to the new graphics engines they incorporate. However, in the rest of the devices the game will work perfectly, except that certain effects will not be appreciated in the same way]

Continuing with the graphics, all the buildings that appear on the map have been generated in three dimensions, which gives the game a realism never seen in flight simulators.

When looking for enemies on the map, it will allow us to detect them in a simple way thanks to an indicator that will appear on the screen, guiding us towards them and making the task much easier.

With a level of detail like this, we could think that it would be a title in the style of Flight Simulator of PC, but it is not like that. The controls have been designed to be a game accessible to everyone. Anyone can play without having any knowledge of flight, which makes it a title to consider if we like simple games to control but with excellent graphics.

Having 25 different planes - at the beginning we will only have 3, having to unlock the rest as the game progresses - all of them faithfully recreated specifically for the game, not all our missions will be based on destroying our enemies. Several of them will consist of escorting other planes, or simply avoiding enemy fire. This variation of the classic objective gives a very original touch to a game.

In the game controls section we have either the accelerometer to control our fighter, or a digital joystick, which works perfectly, with incredible speeds and response qualities. To shoot the enemies we have a button located in the lower right, dedicated exclusively to this purpose.

As for the sound effects, they are all in English, but with a realism that surprised us very positively. It really looks like we are inside the cockpit of a fighter jet. If despite this we do not like them, we can always listen to our own music that we have stored in our music player library.

If at any time we receive a call, the game will pause automatically, returning to the exact point where we were before receiving said call. This is a point that the boys of Gameloft they wanted to make it very clear. All their games already implement this improvement, it is seen that they have learned from the mistakes of the past.

The game will be available in 6 languages, although as we already mentioned, the audio will always be in English. However, we can enjoy all the subtitles in the language that we like the most.

Lastly, HAWX allows multiplayer mode, through a connection Wi-Fi y Bluetooth, up to four players simultaneously.

Thanks to the community Gameloft Live, after creating an account, we will be able to share our trophies with the rest of the players from all over the world, as well as the scores obtained in the different phases of the game.

In conclusion, and after having tested the game, we have nothing but praise for a title that offers what it promises: many hours of gameplay, incredible graphics and gameplay levels never before seen in flight simulators.
