The Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Z Flip are Samsung's new bets for 2020

Samsung presents throughout the year a large number of devices to reach all pockets which allows it to continue being the manufacturer that sells the most smartphones every year. However, until relatively recently it had two high-end models distributed throughout the year: the Galaxy S range and the Note range.

Since last year, these two high-end terminals have been joined by a new model, a folding smartphone. In the event held yesterday, in which the new S range was presented, the Galaxy Z Flip was added, Samsung's second commitment to the market of folding smartphones.

The Samsung Galaxy Flip is presented with a clamshell design, similar to the one Motorola showed us with the renewal of the mythical RAZR. But unlike this one, the exterior screen is very small and its function is limited to showing if we have any pending notification to read.

Once the terminal is open, we find a screen coated with ultra fine glass With which Samsung avoids the folds and wrinkles that could appear if a plastic protection had been used. The screen reaches 6,7 inches with a 22: 9 aspect ratio.

This model does not have a single way of opening, as you might initially expect, since it uses a special hinge that allows you to open it like a laptop to place it in the position we want, a function intended for lovers of selfies. This hinge is designed to hold 200.000 folds and its design prevents dirt from the environment from accessing its interior.

Regarding the specifications, inside the Galaxy Z Flip, we find the processor of Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ accompanied by 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. In the photographic section, we find two cameras on the back, both 12 mpx and a front 10 mpx. The fingerprint sensor to unlock the terminal is on the side, not under the screen.

Samsung Galaxy S20

Galaxy S20

The Korean company has presented three new models of its high-end, like last year but with a different name, leaving aside the e version, the most economical version of this range and destined to the less affluent pockets.

This new range is formed by the Galaxy S20 with a 6,2-inch screen, the Galaxy S20 + whose screen reaches 6,7 inches and the top of the range, the Galaxy S20 Ultra, with a 6,9-inch screen. The display of all models is 120 Hz, a frequency that adjusts automatically depending on the content you are displaying.

All these models share the same design, with a job at the top of the screen where we find the central camera. The panel is Dynamic AMOLED, and the resolution is 3.200 x 1.440p.

In the photographic section is where we begin to see the first differences. The S20 Ultra, incorporates a main sensor of 108 mpx, accompanied by a 48 telephoto with which we can make a 10x optical and hybrid zoom up to 100 (The latter is more of a business strategy than anything else, because the end result leaves much to be desired). We also find a TOF sensor and a 12 mpx wide angle. Both the Galaxy S20 and S20 + incorporate a 12 mpx main camera, a 64 mpx telephoto with 2x optical zoom and a 12 mpx wide angle.

The front camera of the S20 and S20 + reaches 12 mpx, while that of the Ultra model is 40 mpx. If we talk about video, the entire S20 range is capable of record videos in 8K quality, once again Samsung wants to be the first to offer a function, although today both monitors and televisions with this resolution can be counted on the fingers of one hand and leave an eye out of the face.

If we talk about power, all the models that are part of the S20 range are managed by the Snapdragon 865 Qualcomm (8-core processor) in the United States and China, while in Europe, Samsung is betting on the Exynos 990 (Samsung 8-core processor).

The RAM memory is another data to highlight, since depending on the version, 4G or 5G, it incorporates more or less RAM. In the case of the 4G models, the Galaxy S20 and S20 +, the memory is 8 GB, while the 5G version of both models the memory reaches 12 GB. The Galaxy S20 Ultra is only available in 5G version and incorporates 16 GB of RAM. Storage ranges from 128 GB to 512 GB, type UFS 3.0

In terms of battery, the Galaxy S20 incorporates a 4.000 mAh battery, 4.500 mAh the Galaxy S20 + and 5.000 mAh the Galaxy S20 Ultra. All of those are compatible with fast and wireless charging. The fingerprint sensor is located under the screen and all of them hit the market with Android 10 accompanied by One UI 2.0, Samsung's customization layer.
