Samsung is going to start the production of OLED LTPO screens for the next iPhone 13. That means that the new range of iPhones that will be presented this year, if not all, at least the Pro, will have a screen of 120 Hz.
And most likely they will only be available in the iPhone 13 Pro. It will be one more quality addition to the most expensive range of iPhones, not like the current one, where they only differ in the quality of the camera and little else.
As just published The Elec, Samsung plans to start manufacturing low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) thin-film transistor (TFT) OLED displays for Apple from first semester of this year.
LTPO displays are more energy efficient than standard OLED displays and will allow Apple to implement 120Hz refresh rates on screens in upcoming iPhone 13.
The report notes that Apple will use OLED LTPO panels for the top-tier iPhone models launching in 2021, which will be provided by Samsung. LG Display will manufacture standard OLED LTPS TFT panels for the low-end models.
This squares with rumors that the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max will have refresh rates faster than 120 Hz, like current technology. Promotion with which the iPad Pro has.
