They put the range of AirPods and Beats Solo3 to the test

The AirPods are causing a sensation, and despite the criticism received for their (for many) high price, they have been one of the star gifts this Christmas. Do they really deserve those € 179 they cost? In addition to its small size, its excellent autonomy and its charger-case that allows you to enjoy them for up to 24 hours without having to connect them to the electrical network, one of its strengths is its reach. A feature that many do not quite believe, since other similar headphones suffer from disconnections after a few meters, but that in iDownloadBlog have been tested with truly amazing results.

Headphones with W1 chip and without the chip

The comparison carried out by iDownloadBlog has had as object of analysis four different headphones: two with the new W1 chip (AirPods and Beats Solo3) and two without the chip (PowerBeats 2 and Beats Studio Wireless). PTo do this, they have gone to a place in the open air, without obstacles and have put the different headphones to the test, assessing when the connection is stable, when they begin to notice certain failures and when they do not achieve enough quality as to be able to continue listening. The device they have connected it to has been an iPad Air 2.

AirPods vs PowerBeats 2

These are headphones that are similar in size, so we use them to compare their results. While the PowerBeats 2, without the new W1 chip, at 15 meters they already begin to have serious connectivity problems, with more or less prolonged cuts, at 30 meters the connection is already completely useless and it is impossible to continue listening to music with them . The AirPods do not have the slightest problem at 15 meters, and although at 30 meters they have a cut, the music continues to sound without problems. At 35 meters the quality already begins to fall, but they hold up to 55 meters, when the cuts already prevent listening to the music correctly.

Beats Solo3 vs. Beats Studio Wireless

Both are supraaural headphones, larger in size than the previous ones and with better antennas and batteries, so they should surpass the marks of their respective little brothers without much difficulty. The Studio Wireless are the ones that do not have a W1 chip, and they hold up well up to 20 meters, when the quality decreases somewhat. At 30 meters they suffer from some cuts, and at 45 meters they can definitely be considered to have reached their peak. The Beats Solo3, with the W1 chip behave much better, with a small cut at 30 meters away but continuing to play afterwards without the slightest problem. The quality is still good up to 65 meters away, and they endured their big problems up to 100 meters, at which time the quality left much to be desired and the maximum range was established.

The W1 chip does its job well

We do not know the type of bluetooth that Apple headphones use, but what is clear is that the AirPods, despite their small size, behave very well and achieve a maximum range that few would have imagined, even reaching up to 55 meters. with some problems, but holding up well up to 35 meters. The Beats Solo3 become a true all-rounder with its 100 meters of maximum range in the open field. Looking for a wireless headset with a good range? Well, consider very seriously those with the W1 chip Apple in its different models.
