Scosche Baselynx, the only charging base you need at home

We tried a customizable, modular, multi-device charging base that allows you to recharge all your devices With a single plug, all of that is the Scosche Baselynx Charging Cradle, the only cradle you'll ever need in your home.

Electronic devices are multiplying in our homes, and that means that in many homes, finding a free plug and charger sometimes becomes mission impossible. Not to mention where do we leave all those devices when we don't use them? This is why multi-device charging stations are so popular, but they usually offer charges for two or at most three devices simultaneously. This model we are talking about today, Baselynx by Scosche, is just what you were looking for if finding a plug and / or charger for all your devices is a headache.

Modularity is the difference

If you're looking for a dock for your Apple Watch, it usually includes a charger for your iPhone and little else, which is fine for your nightstand but not for all the gadgets around the house. What if you want a base for the two Apple Watch at home? Or for the two iPhones? What if you only have an Apple Watch and an iPhone but you also have an iPad and AirPods? Let's no longer talk about large families where devices multiply. In addition, each device needs a different charging power: the iPad Pro 18W, the iPad 12W, if you want fast charging for your iPhone you also need 18W and also USB-C with Power Delivery… a real headache.

Scosche has managed to eliminate these problems at a stroke, since You can build your own base yourself as if it were a Lego. The Kit that we analyzed includes a charger for the Apple Watch, another wireless charger for any device compatible with the Qi standard, iPhone and AirPods included, and a base for three devices that you can place vertically, as a magazine rack, and that is specifically designed for iPad and iPhone.

Each of these modules is independent and can be placed in the order that you like the most. Or you can even remove a module, or add others. This is the great difference it has compared to any other multi-device base: you decide what you need and configure it to your liking. You just have to take into account one important detail: each set has a limit of 15 points, which is the maximum that a single cable can feed, and they are distributed as follows:

  • Charger for Apple Watch: 1 point
  • Qi wireless charger (10W): 2 points
  • Vertical charging base (2xUSB-A 12W + 1xUSB-C 18W PD): 5 points
  • Dual port end piece (USB-A 12W + USB-C 18W): 3 points

It is already a matter of you doing a simple sum to know if everything you have at home can be recharged with a single base. The Kit that we analyze adds a total of 8 points, and the charging of two iPads, an iPhone, some AirPods and an Apple Watch, or three iPads, an iPhone and an Apple Watch solves you. Look at the margin that remains to add accessories and recharge the headphones of the PS4, another iPhone, another iPad Pro, etc. An element that the kit does not include (and it is a shame because it would already be perfect) is the final double port piece, with a 12W USB-A (perfect for an iPhone or iPad) and an 18W Power Delivery USB-C, which is perfect for the iPad Pro or fast charging your iPhone. Of course, it can be purchased separately.

Quality and attention to detail

To all that we have said, we must add that this base is very well built. It is made of plastic, this model is white (exclusive to the Apple Store) but there is also black, but do not think that the feeling is cheap materials because it is not like that at all. All the pieces are quite solid, the connection between them is very robust, and the textile material of the wireless base and charger for the Apple Watch is a very good finish. When attached, the base looks like a single piece despite its modularity.

Scosche has taken care of all the details a lot, and has not fallen into a mistake that other bases do commit: vertical stand allows iPad to be placed with thick protective cases, something very important especially when there are children at home. It is the first base of its kind that I have tried that allows me to fit my children's iPads with UAG cases, even my iPad Pro with the fairly thick Logitech keyboard case fits without problems.

Editor's opinion

Scosche offers us with this Baselynx charging base something unique in the market: a multi-device base, modular, expandable, fully customizable and capable of recharging all your home devices with a single plug. If to this we add good finishes and a well-achieved design, as well as other details such as being able to place the iPad with thick protective cases, we can only recommend it for anyone looking to recharge all their home devices without space problems or plugs. Available in white (only in the Apple Store) for € 159 (link) has a really interesting price considering that it allows you to recharge up to 5 devices simultaneously. In black at the moment we can only find it on the Scosche website (link) but it is expected that it will soon be available in more online stores, in addition to the standalone modules can be purchased.
