The news of the day runs around the versions of the Google Home that the company has launched in Spain officially and that aims to democratize the system of virtual voice assistants for the home.
However, the latest studies show that only 6% of smart speaker users take advantage of them to manage the home automation system. For some reason it seems that they are not penetrating deep into systems like HomeKit ... What could be the reason? Let's take a look at the current market situation and the reasons for its low expansion.
This study has been conducted by the IHS survey team and the results appear to be quite self-evident. Controlling our home through voice commands is far (very) far from standardized, users of their own smart speakers still do not choose to have this “comfortable” mechanism as their preference for managing compatible devices at home. The result is catastrophic, only 6% of smart speaker users prefer to operate HomeKit or similar products through voice commands.
Much of the blame for this is evidently Siri, Alexa and their companions. In the first tests of the Amazon Echo that our colleague Luis Padilla has carried out, we have taken little time to realize how inefficient it is sometimes with standardized commands such as those for multimedia management, We do not even want to imagine what can happen when you try to open the blinds or regulate the temperature of the house to a certain degree. Meanwhile, companies are still far from falling in love with a well thought out but poorly executed product. Definitely, we are going to closely monitor the progress of this type of product that is becoming so standardized in the market and that is intended to make our lives easier.
