Snapchat works on a new function to merge videos of different users from the same location

This last year it's been really hard for the snapchat guys, not only because of the complex IPO of the company, but also because of the success that Instagram is having by repeatedly copying this platform, blatantly copying each and every one of the new functions launched by the platform.

The guys at Snapchat are working on a new feature, a feature aimed at all those users who enjoy the concerts of their favorite artists but not exclusively. This new feature called Crowd Surf, uses artificial intelligence and machine learning when several users are recording the same event.

Combining these two technologies, Crowd Surf will be able to locate all the videos that have been recorded in the same location to merge them, showing us the same event from different angles. The sound, an important part in this type of event, will be merged so that there are no jumps every time we change the angle. The result will be a multi-camera video that will allow us to enjoy this type of event from different angles.

To be able to change the view / camera, once the video is playing, at the bottom of the screen a small icon will be displayed on which we have to press to see all the available angles. According to TechCruch, this function was tested for the first time during a Lorde concert in San Francisco last Monday and the results of this new function can be seen in the video above.

According to Snapchat, this new feature is still in the testing phase, and it is being tested by a small group of people. The deployment of this new function will be made progressively to coincide with events of this type, conferences and other events where this new function can offer interesting results, such as this case.
