This could be the entire HomePod family

Apple has just launched its HomePod on the market, re-entering the world of speakers after the failed attempt at the iPod Hi-Fi twelve years ago. This new smart speaker is the first of what could (and should) be a full range of speakers with different benefits and that we could get to see in the very near future.

HomePod + and HomePod Express may be the perfect add-ons for a fully connected home where Siri will flood every room and our way of interacting with all our devices will leave the screens at once to be done by voice, a more natural and direct method.

The HomePod Express will be the most economical solution to have speakers in all our rooms. With built-in battery and physical controls instead of the touch screen, its smaller size would offer a more limited sound quality than the current HomePod, but its lower price would make it perfect to be able to have several at home, with the enormous advantage of having an integrated battery and thus being able to move it without problems. Its integrated charging base would make it perfect for not having any type of visible connector.

The HomePod + would go just the opposite way: a more expensive speaker with superior audio that would make it compete with other premium products from brands like B&O. It could even have a charging base on the top, something that I personally do not quite see as practical or necessary, but which is still an interesting imaginative resource.

What if these HomePods were even used to amplify the WiFi signals on your home network? With the AirPort practically abandoned, it could be a possibility that Apple incorporates in future HomePods. It is clear that Apple's HomePod is only the first step, and that there needs to be a more diverse range in terms of features and prices so that everyone can find their perfect speaker in terms of quality, size and price.
