SteelSeries has its new Nimbus + driver ready for Apple devices

Nimbus +

Anything that is quality third-party brand devices compatible with Apple, they are welcome. It is true that thanks to the recent updates of the company, we can now use the drivers of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on our Apple devices, but not everyone has such consoles at home.

SteelSeries has been selling its Apple-compatible Nimbus controller for a long time. Now launch a new improved version, and with the MFi certification. Good news, no doubt.

Five years ago, SteelSeries announced its first Nimbus joystick compatible with iPhone, iPad and Apple TV. Now the company is preparing to launch a new version of Nimbus called «Nimbus +«, Which appears to be very similar to the current Stratus Duo controller, but certified Made For iPhone (MFi).

This new controller has just appeared in the ANATEL approval system, equivalent to the FCC of Brazil. This body has shared a series of photos and documents of this new joystick, which reveal the compatibility with Apple devices and even a lightning port on the back to charge its internal battery.

It's a Stratus Duo, for Apple devices

From what can be seen in these documents, Nimbus + looks almost identical to Stratus Duo model, which only works with Windows and Android devices, and recharges through a Micro-USB port. SteelSeries has probably decided to use the name Nimbus + for the MFi version to avoid confusion with the current model and to enhance the Lightning connector.

It can be paired with an iOS device wirelessly via Bluetooth 4.1. According to the leaked manual, the Nimbus + joystick is compatible with iPhone 6 and later versions, iPad Air 2 and later versions, the 7th generation iPod touch y Apple TV HD and 4K. Although not mentioned, it probably works with the computers Apple.

Like the controller Stratus Duo, Nimbus + has an 8-way D-pad, four action buttons, two analog joysticks, "Menu" and "Home" buttons, and LED indicators. A priori it seems the same controller, Apple version. We will wait for its launch.
