Review Sudio Regent: versatile headphones with great autonomy at a reduced price

Studio Regent

It is clear that at the moment the headphones that are taking all the headlines are the AirPods, the new wireless headphones from Apple that are leaving a very good taste in the mouth. But AirPods are in-ear headphones and not all of us like those headphones that we have to put well in our ear or we will not enjoy their sound. To be at home, I have always preferred headband headphones for various reasons, and in this post we will talk about Studio Regent, One Bluetooth headsets for those who do not want or can pay what other brands ask for a headset.

Sudio Regent box contents

Sudio Regent box

I have to admit that the box in which the Sudio Regents come has surprised me for good. Starting with its presentation and ending with the hard cardboard that protects its contents. Inside, once we pull the tab to open the drawer, we find:

  • Sudio Regent headphones.
  • USB to micro USB charging cable.
  • 3.5mm double jack cable for physical connection.
  • Documents / instructions.

The USB to micro USB cable will allow us to charge the headphones at all times, which means that, unlike what happens with other Bluetooth devices, we can listen to music at the same time we load them. It may seem like an insignificant detail, but I have had some others in which this was not possible and it gives a lot of courage to have to wait for headphones to charge to use them.

Design: small, but attractive

With the design I have to admit that I am somewhat special. If I have to be honest I often criticize the design of virtually any headset I see, except for the Beats. But the problem with the Beats is not precisely in its design, if not (in my opinion) in practically everything else.

The Sudio Regents have a design that looks a lot like headphones that we can find in any studio recording, with the difference that they are a little smaller. The system with which we will adjust them to our head consists of a fixed headband and headphones that are attached to some wires that will determine the size of this headband. The size might appeal to some users, but I think it's a little small.

The Sudio Regents are available at black and white colors, but we have 4 housings available, in addition to the one that is by default, which will allow us to give it a more personal touch.

Sound quality

Admittedly, this is not the strong point of these headphones, but it all depends on what device we want to use it with. If we use them with an iPhone, my only complaint is the volume, which do not have all the power that I would have liked to find. For me it falls a little short, at a point where I can't quite appreciate all the nuances that I would like. Although at this point it shouldn't be a secret that I like Metal, not all I hear is nonsense screaming; Much of the music I listen to is very current, which means that the production is exquisite and everything must sound good. That's why I miss that little bit more power.

When will we most notice the lack of power will be when we connect them to a computer or other more powerful device. On my Mac, the volume is determined by the headphones, so they do not end up distorting, but I also have a PC with Ubuntu where I have put them to the test and, turning up the volume, they do distort.

The Sudio Regents have Noise Cancellation, something that, once you try it, you can no longer live without it.

Autonomy: they won't let you down

Autonomy Sudio Regent

Perhaps the best thing about these headphones. That they do not have a power that could destroy our ears also has its positive things, starting because we will not damage them. On the other hand, we can also listen to music for longer, up to 24 hours of use promises Sudio. If I have to be honest, I don't know if this is true or not because I have been using it for days and since I made it a full charge, I still have 50% battery left. It is something that is appreciated, that we do not have to be aware of loading them all the time.

Controls, buttons and settings

Sudio Regent bottom

The Sudio Regents are very simple headphones and that is noticeable when controlling or connecting them to any type of device. On the right earbud it has three buttons:

  • Increase volume and advance song if we keep it.
  • Lower volume and delay song if we keep it.
  • Central button.

The middle button is for turn on / off the headphones pressing it for three seconds until the red light flashes, start Bluetooth connections if we press it for 5 seconds until we see the blue light and summon Siri pressing it twice. Keep in mind that to invoke Siri it will be necessary for it to be available; We will not be able to invoke it if, like me, we do not have it active on the lock screen, in which case we will have to unlock the iPhone to be able to invoke Siri.

Connecting these headphones to any device is as simple as press the central button 5 times, go to the Bluetooth section of the device to which we want to connect it and choose it from there. There is nothing else to do. In the case of the iPhone, we will control its volume with the side buttons.

Conclusion

Personally, I have to admit that these headphones have left my heart divided. On the one hand, we could say that we are dealing with a Plug & Play device, that is, its use is simple And, like Apple devices, they work out of the box. They also offer very good autonomy and this allows me to listen to music whenever I need it, something that I cannot with other headphones. But on the other hand we have a sound that lacks a power point And, this is subjective opinion, a little in depth.

But we have to value everything and the price of the Sudio Regents is much lower to, for example, the AirPods. During this christmas we can buy them for € 129 from their website, which are no less than € 50 less than the new in-ear headphones, important this, from Apple. It's also priced about 3 times less than other famous brand Bluetooth headphones which, let's face it, don't offer much better sound. What's more, using the promo code ACTUALIDADIPHONE we will get a 15% discount, so right now we can buy these headphones from its official website for € 109,65. In the end each one has to weigh the pros and cons on a scale and decide (but I do not prefer others whose brand begins with B).
