Swallowing an AirPod is becoming a frequent accident

A new case of a man from Massachusetts who swallows an AirPod. Of course, Apple is not to blame for this, but it is no longer an isolated accident and there have been more cases than it should be.

It happens when you go to sleep listening to music or the radio through the AirPods. You fall asleep in bed, you start tossing and turning, and your AirPods dance freely across the pillow. From there until they reach your mouth, there is only one step left ...

Sometimes I go to bed with it AirPods on. I usually listen to some podcasts from my favorite radio station, especially the sports program, to keep up to date with the news of my favorite soccer club.

And many times the next day I have to pick up the AirPods that have been scattered on the bed, to put them to charge in their case. Falling asleep with them on can be dangerous. Just because sleeping, you can swallow them.

And the same thing has happened to Brad gauthier, of Worcester, Massachusetts. He didn't realize he had swallowed an AirPod while sleeping in his bed. And when he got up in the morning and drank a glass of water, he noticed that he was choking when trying to drink it.

He felt a pain in his throat, but did not give it more importance. But when looking for his AirPod lost in bed and not finding it, he suspected that he had swallowed it anyway without realizing it. He ran to the hospital, and when he did a radiography they saw that he had one of his AirPods lodged in his esophagus.

They had to perform an emergency endoscope, and luckily, they rescued the device before it reached the stomach. Everything was in a fright. The AirPod still listening well, although the microphone has stopped working. Brad was lucky, then.
