Indian Telecom Minister Claims iPhone Easy to Hack

Since the FBI asked the Cupertino boys for help to access the iPhone 5c that the terrorists used in the Cupertino attacks, much has been said about the security of iOS-based devices. While it is true that devices prior to the iPhone 5s are easier to hack, a couple of days ago we informed you that the Los Angeles police department had managed to unlock an iPhone 5s, related to the death of the wife of one of the the actors of the series The Shield. Apparently a mobile phone forensic managed to access by skipping the access code to the device.

The lack of help the FBI has received from Apple, it seems that it has not sat very well with the Chinese authorities, as reported by various officials of the country. To try to smooth things over, Tim Cook will travel later this month to meet with the government and try to solve the problems it is facing. In India, the telecommunications minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad, has made several statements regarding the security of devices manufactured by Apple.

Smartphones, like those made by Apple, use advanced encryption to secure data storage and protect communications. Such encryption technologies pose challenges for law enforcement agencies around the world, including our country.

But furthermore, Prasad claimed that the government's research and development department, has developed a tool to perform forensic analysis on mobiles, including those of the Apple company. Prasad does not specify which iPhone models or what type of tool allows them to perform this type of analysis, which, they claim, allows them to access any device. Apparently the government of India does not like not being able to access certain systems and has created its own tool to access, hence it denies that the government of India wants to force those of Cupertino, something that had been rumored, to introduce a back door in iOS or a key that allows access to all devices.
