Telegram is the messaging application that consumes the least data

Despite the fact that most blogs always recommend the use of Telegram among our readers, without anyone paying us, thanks to all the benefits it offers us compared to WhatsAppMany are the users who only bother to download it when WhatsApp stops working. A few days ago WhatsApp stopped working around the world and the application stores began to show Telegram among the most downloaded applications. But Telegram not only offers us a large number of advantages compared to WhatsApp, but also, according to a study, is the messaging application that consumes the least data.

If the use we make of our smartphone is mainly intended to communicate with our friends via WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber or other messaging applications it is likely that a significant part of our data rate is spent through these types of applications. If we are not very clear which of all the applications available on the market consumes less data, the guys from SOS trariffe have carried out a study in which they have compared the use of data from Telegram, WhatsApp, Hangouts, Line, Viber, Messenger and Skype .

To make it a little easier to know what our consumption is, these guys They have created three categories: light, medium and heavy, categories that are governed by the following shipping parameters:

  • Light: 2nd messages sent, 20 messages received, 5 images received and 2 images sent.
  • Medium: 4nd messages sent, 40 messages received, 10 images received and 5 images sent.
  • Heavy: 10nd messages sent, 100 messages received, 50 images received and 20 images sent.

As we can see in the table, Telegram is the application that consumes the least data in all categories, but it stands out especially in the Heavy user, where it consumes almost half the data than WhatsApp. Next we find Google Hangouts, with consumption very similar to WhatsApp. The rest of the classification is made up of Line, Viber, Messenger and Skype, the latter being the application that consumes the most data, by far.

I use whatssap mainly because it is what those I know have, and I wonder if having telegram also could have a higher battery consumption since as it is looking for messages I suppose it will consume every x time, when I go on a trip the battery is essential, despite of carrying a battery to recharge I have found that I do not have the iPhone cable, I leave it at the hotel or I do not have the battery ...... about the extra battery consumption by having another messaging application someone knows something, I have 25gb data and I don't worries so much.

It is true, it spends very little, in fact it does not spend anything, nobody uses it. Be honest, and yours? I know, nothing either.

I do not know if it will be related, but if you have no data left, Telegram works fatal, as soon as the messages arrive.
