The 2019 iPhone could have a triple-lens camera

Some readers published by digit.in and OnLeaks reflect what could be a first approach to the 2019 iPhone. Baptized by many as "iPhone XI" (we'll see what its final name ends up being) one of its main changes could be a triple lens camera, with the three lenses within a square.

With this new lens and a non-linear arrangement of the same, the iPhone would use the technology «ToF» (time of flight) that allows you to know the depth of field of what you are recording or photographing at long distances, which would be an important advance for the use of Augmented Reality (AR) or photographs in Portrait mode.

This ToF technology is already present in some terminals recently presented, and Apple seems to be trusting Sony for the development of it in its next iPhone. The fact that there are three lenses and they are not aligned would allow the rear camera to create 3D modes very quickly even in the dark. This camera could even map an entire room in a few seconds. Improvements in autofocus and applications in Augmented reality and Virtual Reality would be just some consequences of the use of this new technology in iPhones.

The images shown in this article and published by the source are not "official" so if this rumor is confirmed it is more than likely that the final design would be very different from what we are currently seeing. Anyway, keep in mind that right now the iPhone XI is not even in the pre-production phase. It is more than likely that the final design is not yet approved. Therefore, this type of early rumor has to be taken with great caution. I just hope that Apple knows how to do it in some way better than what appears in these images.
