The App Store updates its prices in some countries due to the tax change

Last week, Apple began sending developers an email informing them about the price increase that some applications will suffer in certain countries. The guys from Cupertino, affirm that due to the changes in VAT that some countries have suffered, they will make the appropriate adjustments in the price of the applications, without the developers having to intervene at any time.

This price variation will only be carried out in countries where the VAT has been modified, either by increasing the price of the applications, or by reducing it. On this occasion, Apple has not modified the prices of the rest of the countries alleging changes in the price of the dollar, as he usually does every two years or so.

As usual, in this type of VAT changes, Apple will collect them and refer them to the appropriate authorities. in Belarus, Armenia, Turkey, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in the percentages shown below:

  • Armenian 20%
  • Belarus 20%
  • Saudi Arabia: 5%
  • Switzerland: changes from 8 to 7,7%
  • Turkey: 18%
  • United Arab Emirates: 5%

But the price of the apps will not only increase in a limited group of countries, but there is also a group of countries that will see how the price of them varies, like that of in-app purchases or subscriptions

  • Czech Republic. The price of in-app purchases will be reduced as well as that of applications, excluding subscriptions.
  • India. The prices of in-app purchases and subscriptions will be reduced, including subscriptions.
  • Turkey, Nigeria, Belarus and Armenia. The price of applications and in-app purchases is increased, excluding subscriptions.

All price changes for apps, in-app purchases, or subscriptions will be held before the end of January, to take effect on February 1.
