According to the latest test, the Apple Watch is waterproof. Why is Apple hiding it?

One of the most discussed features on the Apple Watch since even before its introduction is its water resistance. Tim Cook's first statements were not very encouraging, assuring that it would only be splash resistant. And is that a sports watch with which we have to take special care is not exactly an attractive idea.

In the official presentation last March, the CEO of Apple was already more specific and assured that Apple Watch is IPX7 certified, which means that it has to hold at a depth of 1 meter for 30 minutes. But, according to the latest tests, the bitten apple watch has a much higher endurance. Why is Apple hiding this ability?

During this weekend, an athlete named Ray WakerA tech blogger who loves endurance sports, the Apple smartwatch has been subjected to three tests to see for himself the water resistance of the Apple Watch. According to their results, the Apple Watch is unofficially waterproof.

In the first test, Waker subjects the Apple Watch to a 1200m session, in which the bitten apple watch was repeatedly hit against the water at high speeds. At the end of the test, which lasted 25 minutes, the watch worked fine, with the only fault that the heart rate monitor was not as accurate as expected.

In the second test, the athlete subjected the Apple Watch to extreme pressures underwater, launching from 5m, 8m and 10m high into a local pool. Apple clearly mentions on its website that the Apple Watch should not be exposed to impacts, but, in the end, the watch came out unscathed from this second test.

But perhaps the most important test is the third. In his latest test, Waker sticks his Apple Watch into a camera that simulates underwater pressures 40m deep. The smartwatch does not suffer any damage, oddly enough.

The Apple Watch has a certificate of "only" IPX7, which is what we can see on its website. In addition, Apple does not recommend that we swim with the watch, but what they want is that our device last as long as possible without causing major problems. The tests carried out by Waker show that the water resistance of the smartwatch is much higher than what Apple wants us to see. Let each draw their own conclusions.

What do you think about Antonio Muñoz Ortega, Chema Najarro Peloche?

Daniel Macovei I suppose that the apple care plan for the Apple watch provides them with significant income…. Now let's see who is the one who spends at least € 400 and gets it wet without Apple care, when having contracted this insurance they will change it for liquids. … Let's see what happens

The certificate that it has that it is the ipx7 certifies that it is submersible up to 1,5 meters deep up to 30 minutes ... They hide it I believe to heal in health ...

    1.    Antonio Munoz Ortega said

I think it's business for Apple care

At no time are they hiding it since the page clearly says the certificate you are referring to. logically they are not going to tell or show diving videos, it is not typical in apple.

Also in the elevators it puts 4 personnel 380kg (more or less) but they hold much more weight, what happens, if it happens that 5 are mounted and the weight is 400 kg and the elevator falls, it is not the fault of the manufacturer ...
It is a way to ensure the characteristics…. And that it will not fail ...

I agree with Lisergio, it happens similar with other products or the expiration date of the food.

There are many videos that show that if it is worse submersible perhaps out of a total of 100 they did not meet the percentage to affirm it

why does apple hide it? where is he hiding it? If on the page they put the type of certificate or the type of water resistance is the watch. logically they will not say that you can dive with the watch, etc. because if in the bad case you were damaged, then a lawsuit against apple.

When you have one certificate it doesn't mean you have the next one. It is not guaranteed. What do you want, that something is guaranteed for which he is not qualified because a guy has thrown himself into a pool and his watch can hold it. Sometimes you come across news like this that is not.

  8.   Rafa said

I agree with what has been said around here, because this guy's watch survived the pool does not mean that it will always work for you.
Anyway, I won't be the one to jump into the pool with € 400 on my wrist

the decision to buy it is complicated. because if we pay attention to the instructions of the company we take for granted that it is not submersible other than to take a temporary dip. anyway. It is up to the consumers to buy it or not. For now I am going to wait a bit to see comments and criticisms about its resistance to water, sweat and minor blows.
