The best RSS readers for iPhone and iPad

News

Reading the news on our mobile devices is something more and more common, but if you usually use Safari to do it, surely you have noticed that many web pages are not optimized for the screens of our iPhone, even on the large iPhone 6s Plus with its 5,5-inch screen. The advertising, the huge photos, the promotional videos ... too much noise to be able to read your news comfortably, either from the usual media or from your favorite blogs. Luckily we have a huge repertoire of applications in the App Store that allow us to read this news comfortably, without external elements that distract us from what is really important, and that also help us save on our data rate. They are called "RSS Readers" and we have selected the ones that we think may be more interesting to you.

IOS News

It is an application pre-installed on iOS, but unfortunately it is not yet available in Spain or many other countries. Even so, if you want to try it, it is very simple: You just have to access the Settings menu> General> Language and Region and in the Region section select United States. This will not change the language of your iPhone but it will make the app appear on your springboard. News (or Noticias as it will be called in Spain) offers you a selection of information sources organized by categories that you can customize, but it also allows you to add any RSS feed to be able to include sources that currently do not appear in Apple's default ones. Integration with iOS as it is a native application and is also free are its main strengths, in addition to its extensive catalog of recommendations.

Flipboard

The source of inspiration for Apple's News app, hands down. A classic in all-in-one applications that allows you to manage your social networks and your RSS feeds from a single account. With an excellent design and a huge amount of options and recommendations, it is the favorite of many users, especially those who use the iPad for these purposes. Completely free and universal, it also has an application for Apple Watch.

Feedly

Another of the classics and that became strong after the disappearance of Google Reader, at which time many of us thought that RSS feeds would end. Feedly was one of the first alternatives that appeared and one of the reasons that this RSS service did not end up disappearing. It is an RSS service, and as such it is compatible with many of the applications that we tell you about in this article, but it also has an excellent free application for iOS that deserves to be among the top rankings. With a neat design and numerous built-in options for sharing articles, feedly is a great option for those who want something more functional than the previous options that we have indicated, but do not want to pay a penny for it. Before using another alternative, I recommend you try it.

Reeder 3

My favorite after a lot of going back and forth for the rest of the alternatives. If you are looking for something that the rest of the applications do not offer, if you are a "pro" user of RSS feeds, then almost certainly the € 4,99 of Reeder 3 does not seem too much because this application is a "Swiss army knife" within this category. Although its design may be too sober, the countless options it offers and the compatibility with countless services such as Feedly, Feedbin, NewsBlur, FeedHQ, etc. make it unique in its category. Perhaps excessive for many basic users but essential for the most intensive. It is also a Universal application and has another application for OS X.

Newsify

Maybe a notch below Reeder but also a great alternative for many advanced users. With a minimal and modern design, much richer than Reeder thanks to the images but not as ornate as Flipboard, it offers many configuration options. It is a universal application for iPhone and iPad that is also free, but you must make use of integrated purchases to unlock all its functions and eliminate advertising.

We could consider him the modern Reeder. With a design and options that have been inspired by the excellent Reeder, Unread nevertheless offers us a much more modern design in which gestures allow you to perform many tasks without having to navigate through menus. As a negative point, the applications for iPhone and iPad are independent, and although they are free, you must use integrated purchases to be able to use it 100%.

For me the best after trying I believe that the majority that are in the AppStore, is Fiery Feeds without a doubt for the iPhone, and Mr.Reader for iPad (especially for the use of gestures). I recommend you try them.

Not seeing Mr. reader gives me the feeling that friend ... you have tried few, it is the number one for ipad and a pity that it is not for iphone, zinner for iphone after trying all the posts and many more.

What is Zinner? I don't see her anywhere, Jimmy.

It is with an «n» only, ziner

Okay, I saw it, it's Ziner, but it hasn't been updated since 2014.

If that's true I bought it back in the day, but it seems that they have already forgotten it and don't plan to update it, but even so I like it better than fiery feeds that I also tested and reeder.
