The beta of iOS 14.5 allows to report accidents, dangers and speed cameras in Apple Maps

Apple Maps with new features in iOS 14.5 beta

The first beta of iOS 14.5 has been with us for a week and there are dozens of new features that are appearing. Interesting news such as unlocking the iPhone through Apple Watch if we have a mask on. Or the possibility of modify music service streaming by default to listen to music by commands to Siri. However, the news is happening and today it is the turn of Apple Maps. In this new version it is allowed to report accidents, radars and dangers on the road within the app itself, in the purest Google Maps or Waze style. At the moment, this function only seems to be in testing in the United States.

Notify accidents, speed cameras and dangers with iOS 14.5 and Apple Maps

This function appears again in the first beta of iOS 14.5 as we have been commenting. The moment you start an Apple Maps route with this version of iOS installed, the new function will be notified. A new tab will appear in the navigation menu: Report. If we click on it, a new menu will be displayed that does not interfere with the usual navigation with three elements: accident, danger or speed control.

If we press any of these elements, our location and the notice we just made will be recorded. Apple Maps through its algorithm will analyze if there are more notifications of the same incident and will determine whether to apply the notice to the rest of the drivers or not. If so, an alert sign will appear with the chosen element in each of the users' maps to notify that something is happening in that place.

Notification of the incident also can be done via Siri with a: 'Siri, there is a traffic accident in this position'. And immediately Siri will dump the information to the servers for processing. This new feature appears to be only available in the United States and maybe it's a pilot project. This means that we may not see this function until iOS 15 or quite the opposite, that the function is activated in the US in iOS 14.5 and in the rest of the countries in iOS 15.
