Almost periodically, the Cupertino company is involved in scandals related to Human Rights and the working conditions of its workers. This essentially happens in those countries where Apple has a presence when assembling the devices, that is, assembling all the small parts to turn them into a «IPhone».
Pegatron, one of Apple's main manufacturers, has been sanctioned for violating workers' rights and puts Apple in an extreme situation. In this way, Apple has decided to take a series of measures in order to alleviate this situation and not be affected by the negative publicity that this produces.
The information, obtained by Bloomberg, points out that the Cupertino company could have decided to suspend the contracts with Pegatron altogether:
Apple has suspended any ongoing business with Pegatron after discovering that they violate worker rights in its student program. In order to meet the demand, these student workers worked through the night, violating Apple's code of conduct.
According to Apple, the company Pegatron falsified audit documents in order to conceal this information and thus continue to provide sufficient manufacturing performance.
For its part, Apple is not exempt from fault in this matter. Apple hurries its privileged situation to maximize costs, seeking the cheapest possible labor, thereby causing the ultimate culprit, the exploiters, to abuse workers in order to meet the prices the Cupertino company offers.
At least it is seen that Apple conducts audits to try to minimize the effects of the absence of labor rights on its suppliers but ... Wouldn't it be better to invest the cost of auditors and intermediaries in offering decent working conditions? That gives for another article.
