First tests show a very accurate Apple Watch

It is undoubtedly a very expensive watch, a new way of communicating, even a way of communicating, but it is also a smarter way to play sports and gain health. Tests of all kinds carried out on the Apple Watch show that it is highly accurate in tracking health and fitness data, a reason why it could become one of the first options to be considered by health professionals and the sport to keep fit and do your daily workouts.

Consumer Reports has conducted the first tests that provide a number of encouraging results when it comes to sports and health tracking featuressuch as the step counter and heart rate monitor. The study tests the Apple Watch against its main competitor when it comes to measuring heart rate, the Polar FT60, and it was satisfactory to observe that the results have been surprisingly accurate for a watch that looks more like a jewel than a a sports instrument, without finding significant differences between the two devices, the Polar FT60 being designed by and for that function.

The report did not give details on the results of the first tests, promising more information in the near future. On the other hand, another of the tests to take into account was carried out by the iOS software engineer, Mr. Hannes Verlinde, a regular runner. He purchased a Garmin Forerunner 610 for $ 399 (including the chest strap for heart rate monitoring), and wore it on his body along with the Apple Watch for a 11,3-mile trip, later posting an image of the comparison of the data recorded in both devices that we can see below. The result is simply incredible. What is the supposedly designed for the sport?

Watch-vs-Garmin-Forerunner-610

As we have seen in the image, the Apple Watch and Garmin FR 610 give practically the same results., including distance, average heart rate, and calories burned. The author of the comparison also added that the difference between the calories burned could be due to the fact that he has not updated the weight and height since he acquired his Garmin FR 610 years ago, so the weight of the Apple Watch could be slightly altered according to what set up back in the day with the Garmin.

More important if possible is the data of the total distance traveled, which arises almost without differences, especially if we take into account that the Garmin 610 is compatible with a GPS module, however the Apple Watch does not, in any case, it would work with the iPhone. . In this case we will bear in mind that if you carry the iPhone near the Apple Watch during a workout, the Apple Watch will use the iPhone's GPS to calibrate the pace, however, if you don't carry the iPhone or do the training where the GPS is not available (for example in indoor sports facilities), Apple Watch will use all previously stored information about your steps to measure distance. In fact, the author of the comparison claims not to have casually carried the iPhone on the day of the "study", which is even more surprising if we take into account the ability of the Apple Watch to analyze our sports data and personalize them when maximum with the intention of obtaining the best possible results.

The Apple Watch is giving a lot to talk about, for good and for bad, but of course what there is no doubt is that it is a huge research and development work that has led behind.

Man, the big difference in this test is that the Garmin has been able to make that measurement by itself, and that the Apple Watch has needed to carry the iPhone to use its GPS, otherwise it would be impossible to make that exact measurement.
Those of us who do sports regularly know that this is a big problem, since we need the mobile phone to be reserved with 100% battery for a possible emergency.

read first before commenting, also with the garmin you use the sensor on the chest, instead in apple watch you only use it on the wrist and now, I train hard and I have my apple watch, I have not needed the iphone to measure with accuracy, even if you run on the synth it takes the data up to the same as the machine (heart rate if you touch the sensors, distance, steps etc). In my case, the battery lasts even two days of use (not intense) but with training of more than an hour, WhatsApp notifications, among other apps. and I have the beta of 8.4 and everything is fine.

Sorry pepper740, but almost at the end of the report the writer points out that the person who did the study did not have the iPhone on him when he made the study, I leave you the quoted line (In fact, the author of the comparison claims not to have carried the iPhone above coincidentally the day he carried out the "study").
