The five most difficult levels of Super Mario Run

Super Mario Run

Super Mario Run has been on the market for a very short time and yet it already accumulates a lot of criticism, both for and against. Some feel that the game is not worth what it costs and that Nintendo is going from bad to worse. While some concerns are understood, I am a huge Mario and Nintendo fan. I've been playing the game every day since it came out, even repeating multiple levels multiple times. I can't say that Super Mario Run is difficult in general, but I do say that some levels can cause significant user frustration.

After some thought and checking with some friends who have bought the game, let's take a look at the five most difficult levels in Super Mario Run. This opinion is totally subjective, so feel free to read and differ in what I write.

5. Level 6–4: Bowser's Bob-ombing Run

Yes, this is the final level where you finally get to defeat Bowser once and for all ... until he publishes another new Mario game, of course. What makes this level so tough is not the gameplay, it's the fact that when I started I had no idea what to do and that impression lasted for a long time. I sat for a while just dodging Bowser's obstacles and trying to run to the finish before the clock ran out. I think it would be pretty cool if the user were able to catch up with Bowser, catch him, and have another ending offered… but no. Instead, you have to return the bob-ombs that Bowser throws at Mario. Make sure you stay on the same platform level as Bowser so you can be ready to attack. Once you get it three times ... all over. This level wasn't that difficult after all, but getting there was the real problem.

4. Level 5–1: Lakitu's Revenge

Lakitu is definitely very annoying. Maybe it's just me, but even in the days of Super Mario Bros. there were always problems with Lakitu tossing little spiked creatures like nothing. In addition to that, this level also has several moving platforms that you have to use. Normally it would be easy, but with Mario running at a constant speed, it is more difficult than it sounds.

Luckily, level 5-1 offers a host of opportunities for star energy, which basically makes you temporarily invincible unless you fall off the map. Without that, Lakitu does pose a greater challenge.

3. Level 5–3: Boohind Lock and Key

Boo appears in various levels of Super Mario Run, but 5-3 is tougher than the rest. Not only do you have to escape through mysterious doors, but you have to look for keys to enter through them. These can be in plain sight or hidden, even within Boo himself. Also, as long as you are in the opposite direction, Boo will start chasing you, which makes this level a bit more difficult.

Not much action at 5-3. Instead, the challenge comes from trying to get all the keys and rush through all the doors on time. The 6-2 where Boo makes his final appearance would be on a top 10 list, but the 5-3 is just too frustrating.

2. Level 2–2: Sky-High Lifts and Leaps

You could have expected most of the hardest levels on this list to be in worlds five and six, just like it happened to me when I first played. However, only one of those levels cost me more than 2-2. Most of what happens in 2-2 involves jumping onto platforms that move and rise rapidly, requiring Mario to jump onto another platform. I can't tell if I'm the one who's bad at this task or if it's the physics of the game to blame, but I must have dropped to this level like 10 times. Getting to land correctly on these platforms is difficult. A friend of mine also had similar complaints about this level. I hope you have been given better.

1. Level 6–3: Throwing It All Overboard

We finally reached the most difficult level in Super Mario Run. It's world 6-3, titled "Throw It All Overboard." I still can't get out of here without using all my bubbles at least once or twice. Enemies are constantly throwing debris and jumping all the time, making them difficult to pass. Again there are many small platforms to jump to and from. To add insult to injury, he has a lousy baddie to fight in the end. That part is not particularly difficult, but it adds insult to injury at this level.

The 2-2 does not seem particularly complicated to me, perhaps the recommended thing in that world is to play with Luigi.
Without having reached the last 2 worlds yet, I find world 4-1 very difficult at the green coin level. It is really complicated.
