Google Glass is not dead

After a long time, too long without talking about Google's augmented reality glasses, Google Glass, it seems that the company has taken the project seriously, which seemed dead not so long ago, already the update of the application for Android and the Enterprise edition of the glasses now adds the update of the application for iOS that has been adapted to 64bits which requires iOS 11.

It has been three years without the application undergoing any changes in the Apple store, something really surprising and that made us think that there would never be news, and although the update that has just appeared in the App Store only indicates that there are "bug fixes" the application has already adapted to the 64-bit compatibility requirement that iOS 11 will impose from the month of September when the public version is released.

It is unknown exactly what Google's plans are with its augmented reality glasses, but what is clear is that after Apple's announcement last June in which it showed us ARKit and the potential of its augmented reality platform, this type of technology has enjoyed one of the biggest explosions in recent years. There are many developers who have started to test Apple's tools and the potential that ARKit shows is enormous, and it is clear that Google that was a pioneer in this cannot be left behind.

Augmented reality uses reality and adds layers of information, very different from what virtual reality does, which isolates you in a fictional world. While the latter at the moment seems more restricted to the world of video games, augmented reality is showing signs of enormous utility not only on a professional level but also on a day-to-day basis. Rumors about Apple launching its own augmented reality glasses in the near future are becoming more frequent, and it seems that Google has decided to take up a project that was completely abandoned.
