Silicon Valley's big boys are looking for large areas where it will develop the next autonomous vehicles

Apple Car Concept

Apple, Google and other manufacturers are looking for large areas, through real estate in the San Francisco area, to develop their autonomous vehicles. Everyone knows that Google has been working on this type of vehicle for several years, and in fact has already obtained permits to circulate in the San Francisco area without fear that the police will stop you and impound your vehicle. But he's not the only one. Apple has also been a little over a year, according to rumors, interested in bringing a vehicle to market, about which we really know very little, but everything seems to indicate that it would also be a driverless vehicle.

But not only Apple and Google are focusing on these types of vehicles, but Toyota, Tesla, BMW, Mercedes and Ford are also among the companies that are looking for large areas where they can develop their autonomous vehicles. According to the publication, Google is looking for an area close to 800.000 square feet like Apple. Both companies want expand its research and developed departments destined to these activities to be able to test and experiment with the different models that are being manufactured.

For example. The Tesla facility where they are currently manufacturing the current models has an area of 5,3 million square feet, and is located in Fremont, California, but it is a factory not a research facility, hence the difference between the space sought by Google and Apple with those of a factory to build serial vehicles. As we reported a few weeks ago, Apple is renting various warehouses to develop the different components that will be part of the Apple Car, ships that are receiving different names related to Greek mythology.

At the moment, we know little else about how the Titan project is progressing, in which Apple is working to bring the company's first vehicle to market, except that the new project manager is the former vice president of engineering at Tesla that he signed a few weeks ago.
