Halide camera app is updated with increased support for RAW and support for 3D Touch technology

Although 3D Touch technology arrived more than two years ago, hand in hand with the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, today there are still applications that do not take full advantage of it. It is true that depending on the applications, it does not make any sense to implement it, however, other like photo or video applications, their use is more than justified.

Among the applications to record videos or take photographs that we have available in the App Store, we find Halide, one of the applications that offers us more options when it comes to generating files in RAW format. This app has just been updated by adding a series of improvements and new functions that we detail below.

What's new in Halide version 1.6.0

  • First of all, the speed with which we can interact with the application has been improved, adding a widget on lock screen (for users who do not have an iPhone 6s or higher) and new shortcuts using 3D Touch technology, so that we can open the application directly in Manual mode or in Automatic mode, so that when we want to capture a moment we take as little time as possible.
  • Other novelties, which many users will surely appreciate, is the new management of photographs in RAW format, photographs that will be automatically stored in the RAW album, so that it is much easier to find them when editing them to improve the captures we have made.
  • Thanks to the new format implemented by iOS 11, HEIC, we can take captures of the same quality but occupying half the space. Through the application settings, we can establish that the images are still only saved in JPEG format, a format more compatible with all devices that are not managed by iOS 11.
  • New MAX mode. This mode allows us save images in TIFF format, a format where compression does not exist, so the size of the image occupies 3 times more space than the JPEG compression format. Of course, the colors will not be affected by compression, so if you do not want color distortions in your photographs, this format may be a very good option.

Halide has a price in the App Store of 3,49 euros and it is an excellent alternative to the native Apple application on iOS, especially if you want to start taking photographs in RAW format, to be able to edit them later and adjust the values that you have not taken into account or have not been able to vary when taking the photograph.
