Huawei's alternative to the Galaxy Fold is called the Mate X and it costs even more

Huawei Mate X

On February 20, the Korean company Samsung officially presented the Galaxy fold, the first smartphone of the Korean company with a folding screen, a terminal that will have a price of 1980 dollars in the United States (we still do not know the price in Europe). But It is not the only one that will soon hit the market, since Huawei has also launched its folding smartphone.

The Asian company Huawei, presented yesterday in the framework of the MWC the Huawei Mate X, a foldable smartphone that looks like the Samsung Galaxy Fold in that it folds. Nothing more. Both terminals offer us completely different folding smartphone concepts, so we will have to see how the market evolves to see which one triumphs.

Huawei Mate X

While the Galaxy Fold offers us a terminal that folds covering the inner screen and offers us an outer one to answer calls quickly, answer a message or perform any task quickly, the Huawei Mate X offers us a screen that folds towards outside, so it does not integrate a second screen, but rather one of the sides becomes the quick access screen to the terminal.

Unlike the Galaxy Fold, the Mate X does not integrate any camera to make video calls when we use it in tablet mode, a small and subtle difference that can be more than decisive when choosing one or the other modelSince the one who can pay 1980 dollars for the Galaxy Fold, will probably be able to pay the 2.600 dollars that the Mate X costs, 2.299 euros in Europe.

Huawei Mate X

Both terminals offer us practically the same autonomy, 4500 mAh for the Mate X and 4380 mAh for the Galaxy Fold. While the Mate X uses its Kirin 980 processor accompanied by 8 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, Samsung has opted for the Snapdragon 855 / Exynos 9820 accompanied by 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of UFS 3.0 storage.

The main problem I see with Huawei's Mate X is the cameras. I am not referring to its quality but to its position. To be available on the folded side of the screen, if we want to take a picture, we must use the rear screen (where the cameras are not) which can cause that in some strange movement we fall.

Until they reach the market, it is still too early to know what the trend of this new range of smartphones with a folding screen may be. Both terminals offer us two different concepts. At the moment, it seems that Apple is in no rush to enter this market, probably because you want to wait to see what the market trend is.
