The importance of updating to iOS 7.0.6 and iOS 6.1.6

New iOS 7.0.6 update

This week to the surprise of many of us Apple launched a iOS update designed to correct a major security flaw that affected our devices. Was released iOS 7.0.6 and even iOS 6.1.6 For older devices that are not supported by the latest company software, this fact caught our attention more as this security patch it was released for all devices and the security flaw had to be too significant for this update to be released urgently.

Specifically iOS 7.0.6 and iOS 6.1.6 have arrived to eradicate a flaw that affects security in SSL and TLS connections. Most users saw that an update was available that contained a bug fix that affected these acronyms but were completely unaware of what it was referring to. We will try to explain what these mean internet security protocols.

SSL secure connection

The acronym SSL refers to Secure Sockets Layer (Secure Socket Layer) and TLS is its successor, Transport Layer Security (Transport layer security), thousands of web pages through the network use these security protocols to offer the user the best confidence, online shopping pages, bank pages and Apple's own website, among others, use this system (the green padlock and green letters that appear in the web address bar). When we access one of these pages with our browser, it is in charge of verifying its security by means of these certificates. Certificate verification check if the web is secure which we are accessing.

It is a system based on certification firms, for example, if someone with bad intentions tries to copy a certificate saying that their website is that of a bank and is not its original signature, our Safari browser will inform us that the website is not secure because its signature does not correspond to the original , only the original signature verifies this certificate to avoid fraud on the network.

From there the importance of updating our device to this new version, since anyone connected to the same network could impersonate a secure web page and the serious problems that this could entail. We could believe that we are connected to a secure website and they could be getting our bank details to use without our consent later. Since there is no conflict with this update and the Jailbreak, it is recommended that even all users who have the Jailbreak installed on their device update to iOS 7.0.6 and do it again later, of course also the rest of iOS users, since it is a serious security breach that curiously is still present in OSX and we will receive an update for our teams shortly.

I have updated my iPhone 5s to 7.0.6 and jailbroken, but now that I am reinstalling all my tweaks, I have noticed that there are a couple of packages that are not showing up anymore, like ClipShot, Activiy Pro, Flipswitch, etc. Curiously, all of the BigBoss repo ... And when I try to install Activator I get an error saying that I need Flipswitch, RocketBootstrap and a Firmware greater than iOS7 .. And that they cannot be found or repaired automatically ... Does someone else have it?

    1.    condemor42 said

Installing CCControls installs the Flipswitch, then you only have to uninstall CCControls if you don't want it, that's what I did to have more options with CCToggles

There is something strange then because onstale cc controls but flipswitch was not installed, I am also realizing that bigboss applications such as virtual home bitesms etc only appear older versions, and the new tweaks do not come out.

Neither do Cydelete7 nor JellyLock7 appear

    Make the backup
with the jailbreak and then installing it can give problems?

    All the best

This would only happen through the browser or it can also be affected at the application level, such as the PayPal application etc.

can you update to this 6.1.6 without uploading the baseband? does ultrasn0w work in this version? since with previous 6.x it does not work

I am not very clear about it, I hope the question is not too stupid, it speaks here then that the problem is Safari !? But what if I use Chrome on the iPhone all the time. Is it that the error does not distinguish between which browser is used !? Or doesn't it go that way? I appreciate your response

Set it in DFU mode and try another PC ... it worked for me.

I imagine you have a jailbreak, and I also had a similar problem, what you should do is start in safe mode by pressing the volume key up and eliminate a possible tweak that causes the problem, after this I recommend you turn it on normally and then try restore with itunes, if it does not leave you normal put it in dfu or restoration mode.

If I update that on iPhone 3GS 16GB, will I erase everything? data, contacts, installed programs (whatsapp, facebook, line, etc)?

Have you never upgraded? : S

If you delete everything, but in iTunes you have the option to make a backup and restore to the same copy.

the mail application was giving me problems. I did not update I got a notification of problems with the server I do not know if this was due to that error. have if it solves me

    1.    import said

      * Let's see, not have.
And no, it has nothing to do with it. The server you are trying to connect to does not work or you have changed a password.

I updated by mistake and now my 5s crashes 2 times a week, I realize because no calls come and go, the "solution" is to turn it off and on again. Who tells me to leave Android to BUY problems?

Can I JB the iPhone 3GS, after updating it?

Tremendous when I turn on my iPhone 4S I realize that there is an update available for iOS 7.0.6. But when I go to Apple Support to read more about this update, I find a list of devices with available updates, including iPhone 3GS !! Brutal I looked for my iPhone 3GS full of dust I cleaned it and right now I am updating it! Tooooo! I thought that they were not going to give more updates to the iPhone 3GS. It seems that there is still a significant number of users with this iPhone, so that Apple would be interested in releasing the version of iOS 6.1.6. Because the only thing they had to do to force people to upgrade to 7.0.6 was not to release 6.1.6.

My wife and I have refused to update, and it seems to me from everything they have written that we are right, we will wait for them to correct everything else ... Damn we just said goodbye to Android and it seems that problems are haunting us.

Yesterday I made a backup with the Itunes and also with the PKGBackup.
I updated version and then the jailbreak. It worked the first time.
Also, thanks to the PKGBackup, I restored all the teawks in a few minutes.
    Perfect!!!
