Yesterday we saw an image of an iPhone with the same design as the iPhone 6, but it was next to an iPhone 5 and they were the same size. If we take that image as good, we would be talking about an iPhone with a 4 inch, which has been rumored for months and was known as the iPhone 6c. The most recent rumors, which come to us from Mark Gurman, who has a high percentage of correctness in everything he says, assure that this new terminal will be called iPhone 5se and that will arrive in March.
Today, Gurman himself gives us more details about the iPhone 5se stating that Apple is testing two different prototypes: one with the A8 processor together with the M8 co-processor that are present in the iPhone 6 and another with the A9 and M9 used by the latest iPhones. The good news for all those who prefer a 4-inch iPhone without sacrificing much hardware is that they most likely use the components of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, which would put the smaller iPhone at the same height or above the larger models by having to move a smaller device.
The iPhone 5 will use the "Hey Siri" function without cables
The reason for including the A9 / M9 combination would be that Apple would not want to release a device with components two generations older than those it will release six months later. We are talking about iPhone 7, a device that is expected to include the A10. In addition, the higher efficiency of the latest processor and co-processor would allow the iPhone 5 to be able to use the "hey siri" function without being connected to a power outlet and without affecting the battery.
And what would happen to the current models? The iPhone 5s and iPhone 6 / Plus would no longer be sold, with the iPhone 5se remaining as the cheapest entry model, the iPhone 6s / Plus as the previous year's model and the iPhone 7 / Plus as the top model. In my opinion, what might seem unlikely at first makes sense. The iPhone 6 would disappear and, with it, the Bendgate would also disappear; the iPhone 5s could be sold in some emerging countries, just as they did with the 4S until recently.
Finally, the iPhone 5se will have another advantage over the iPhone 5s. There would be only two capacities, but the 32GB would be dropped, so a 16GB model (Yes again) and another 64GB. The price of the new model would be the same as the iPhone 5s today, something that has yet to be seen, at least outside the United States.
