When Apple launched the iPhone XR many were the analysts who claimed that this it could be the model that would lead Apple's sales Throughout 2018. Since its launch, this model has become the best-seller by Apple, surpassing the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.
The guys from Kantar have published their latest study of sales and market shares for the first quarter of 2019. While Apple is the undisputed king in the UK with the iPhone XR Leading the ranking of the best-selling smartphones, Samsung is leading the rest of the main European markets such as France, Germany, Spain and Italy.
In March 2019, Android share in Europe represents 79,3%, while Apple's market share stands at 20,1%. However, in the United States, Apple's share rises to 45,5%, 6,5% more than in the same period of the previous year.
The iPhone XR exceeds the combined European sales of the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max. According to this study, the users who opt for the new XS range come from the iPhone X, specifically 16%, while only 1% of the iPhone X users have chosen the iPhone XR.
The iPhone XR has become the ideal device for keep customers with older models without being tempted to go off to the competition. But while Apple's best-selling model is the cheapest, quite the opposite happens with Samsung. According to Kantar, sales of the new S10 range have been distributed as follows throughout the month of March:
- 49,4% the Galaxy S10
- 42,8% GAlaxy S10 +
- 8% the GAlaxy S10e
The fact that the more expensive models dominate the sales is a positive development for the manufacturer but you should expect that as the months go by, the Galaxy S10e, the most economical model in this range, focus most of the sales since it is the model intended for a more general public and not so associated with the Korean firm.
