The latest version of iBooks contains anti-jailbreak measures

It seems that this time, Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), has used measures against jailbreak, within the latest version of iBooks.

Explains Comex, the measure in question works as follows: When loading the book data, iBooks tries to execute a small binary code signed with an erroneous DRM;. If the reading response is correct, iBooks will detect that the device is running iBooks under Jailbreak and when loading the book "correctly", it will give us an error and ask us restore device and reinstall iBooks. To be understood correctly, it is as if you load a pirated book and say "wow, my iPhone is able to read it, it has Jailbreak"

I do not understand the news well.
This means that if I run this ibooks with a pirated book, I have to restore the iPhone?

Any solution? For now I understand that by not updating the application, we should be able to continue using it normally, right?

I did not understand the news either, I have an iPhone 4 with 4.2.1 and jailbreak and the latest update of the iBooks and several books that I download from the net and others that I create from a PDF with Caliber and in the same way on an iPad and without problems.

I have about 15 books and when I try to open one in particular it tells me the following: a problem has been detected with the configuration of the iphone, restore it from iTunes and reinstall ibooks.

«… It seems that before opening a DRMed book…»
As you can read in what comex says, it ONLY happens when you try to open a NON-PIRATE book that has authentic DRM. That is why it does not happen when opening your own books.

I have an iPhone 4 with a jailbreak, and it doesn't happen to me with my own books, I don't know what to try with one downloaded from the store ... To those who have happened to you, can you use the ibooks again or does it crash?

    Good people.

The same thing that says keiji, happened to me with the book that they give you (winnie pooh) when you install the application.
I have downloaded a couple of ebooks from the store from the application and it has not given me problems when opening them or anything, I only got that message in Winnie the Pooh.

But does it lock your iPhone until you restore, or does it just warn you?

iPhone 4 with 4.2.1 JB redsn0w, updated iBooks, original books "The web 2.0 ... and the mother who gave birth to him" (by the way I bought it for 1 euraco, I have a more clear conscience ;-), and pirated books. NOTHING HAPPENS TO ME when I open originals (manual iphone, ipad or web 2.0) or when I open pirates.

By the way Pedro if you have books ehhhhh ???? I have a folder with epub (not pdf) of 1,6Gb, we will cut it as the sg * e finds out.

I answer to myself. When trying to open the Winnie the Pooh, the little message comes out and does not allow to open the book, but the iPhone does not crash or anything.

Well, I read the news, download a book, the first one I saw in the ibook store David coperfield 2 by charles dickens and it has not given me an error. I have an iPhone 4 4.2.1 with greenpoison, will it be only for some devices?

  15.   clina said

Lalo, it is not that it is only for some devices, it is that it is only happening with those books that are protected by DRM. Most of the free ones in the store are not protected by DRM (that's why they are free). Try the most downloaded one, which is from "Winnie the Pooh."
A fix has already come out to fix it, it's called Hunnypot and it's in the Cracktouch repo.

Gentlemen, this ibooks problem is only on ios 5. In lower versions this problem is not detected.
