A new 3D camera seems to be coming to light with the next iPhones. It will have a laser screening to have a 3D image with the rear camera. It should not scare us to carry these lasers on our mobile, as if we were Luke Skywalker.
Since Apple introduced Face ID on the iPhone X, every time we unlock our mobile with our face, a very similar laser pattern scans our faces, a few times a day. And we have not gone blind, so there is nothing to fear.

The VCSELs have been a key component in the TrueDepth front camera since the iPhone X in 2017. Thanks to them it is possible to have functions such as Face ID, Animojis, and selfies in portrait mode. The incorporation of this technology in the rear camera will be a breakthrough in 3D photography.
Lumentum appears to be ready to be the exclusive supplier of the rear camera VCSELs, according to the published report. A rumor also indicates that this technology will only be available in the two high-end iPhones that are presented this year, leaving the rest of the phones without the possibility of equipping them with said camera.
These same rumors indicate that these more expensive models will be a 6,7-inch iPhone and a 6,1-inch iPhone with OLED screens and triple-lens cameras, similar to the current iPhone 11 Pro. Rumors this week claim that Apple is developing an augmented reality app for iOS 14 under the codename "Gobi." This application will allow users to obtain more information about the world around them.
