Facebook's new design: inspired by its application

Facebook citaba a la prensa hace unos días para «mostrar un nuevo look». Estamos ante uno de los biggest redesigns of the last two years. Yes, there have been many tweaks during that period of time, but what Facebook has presented in the last hours is a radical change in which it is given maximum prominence to the News Feed. Mark Zuckerberg himself confirmed to the media that "the News Feed is one of the most important things Facebook has invented to date."

Indeed, this is one of the sections most visited by users from all over the world. From it we can know at all times what our friends are doing, see their latest photos, status and see the publications of the people and pages we follow. News Feed looks even better on smartphones and tablets: navigation is simple, smooth and fast. Well, on this concept Facebook has been based to redesign the entire section.

Marzk Zuckerberg commented to the audience that «Facebook's new design is inspired by its application for portable devices«. The News Feed is now given more visualization in the browser version: it is wider, the images have a higher resolution, and the navigation menu scrolls to the left. In the upper right part are the Messages and Friendship requests that come to us.

Facebook knows that we mainly browse the News Feed, but it is an activity that can get tired by not having filters that help us select the content that really interests us. This changes with the new design, since the user is offered to choose News Feed from the following sections: Most Recent, All Contacts, Photos, Music, Following, Friends and Groups. In this way, if we are only interested in knowing, for example, what music our friends are listening to, then we select that option.
