Apple's new HomeKit Secure Video will need an iCloud plan with 200GB or 2TB

We continue with the news from WWDC. Apple wants us to continue using its home automation control service, there were several what's new they announced for their HomeKit and precisely all of them focused on our fullfilment of security requirements. And it is that in the end it is necessary to bear in mind that this technology that we have inside our houses has to be safe in a special way.

They said it in the Keynote of WWDC 2019, Apple wants us to trust them for the storage of all those videos that home surveillance cameras record. You already know that it is not difficult to find images from domestic cameras on the Internet and the guys from Cupertino want us to trust them so that these images cannot be filtered by anyone. Of course, they will be registered in iCloud and we will have to have data plans with them. After the jump we give you all the details of that new HomeKit Secure Video.

You should know that the videos recorded by cameras that support HomeKit Secure Video, will use the now famous HomeKit bridges (Apple TV, iPad, or HomePod) to analyze the video directly in our house. The video feeds (the streams so that we understand each other) they will be encrypted end-to-end and uploaded to iCloud where only we can access them.

And yes, we will have a unlimited storage for these files for 10 days, that is, the videos, whatever they occupy, will be stored in our iCloud account for free and without the space taking away our capacity for 10 days. Of course, we will not be able to enjoy this feature with the free iCloud plan, We will have to have the 200GB plan if we have a camera with Secure Video, or 2TB if we have up to 5 cameras. Normal payments that we have to accept since in the end these videos take up space and Apple is offering us a free space as long as we have trusted them to have a personal space in their cloud.
