Are the original Apple Watch straps worth it? The answer is no

The Three Wise Men and other types of festivities are approaching, aimed at buying gifts for our relatives and friends. Therefore, it goes without saying that one of the best gifts that can be given to the owner of the Apple Watch is a nice strap to give a totally different look to your device. This is when we get into the plot about whether or not it's really worth paying a lot more for official Apple straps. We are going to argue what are the pros (if any) and cons of buying official Apple straps and where we can find cheap alternatives.

Emphasize from the beginning that this article is due to an opinion based on the experience only of the writer and that the entire editorial team does not have to share.

I have been able to spend some time testing official and unofficial Apple Watch bands and these have definitely been the theories that lead me to think that paying more for Apple bands (for the first time in an Apple product), is not worth it:

  • The quality: To say that Apple straps are better for being official is not to be realistic, on Amazon we can find all kinds of qualities, prices and straps. First of all, we have JeTech, a company that creates huge quantities of accessories for Apple products and that usually offer an average quality in line with the price, taking into account that their steel link straps usually cost around € 16, as well as their Milanese straps that do not suffer no degradation over time. Moko is another specialized and recognized company when it comes to unofficial Apple Watch straps.
  • The implausibility of the price: Many companies on Amazon are offering silicone straps for the Apple Watch for prices that are close to € 8 with Premium, that is, 24h delivery. Apple offers a product of exactly the same quality for no less than € 59, the same goes for the nylon ones that you can see for € 20 on Amazon.
  • The ease of changing the strap: The fact that you can get hold of straps of Mode, Fullmosa or JETech Low prices make it easier for us to change the strap and give our watch new life. Something that becomes more difficult with the official straps.

Thus, If you want to give away Apple Watch straps, maybe a bag from the Apple Store will look more, but remember that you can buy more for less if you go to Amazon.

    Totally agree.
I bought the black Milanese mesh straps almost a year ago when they came out.
I paid half of the original strap. Until today it is the one that I continue to use daily.
Totally satisfied with the NOT original purchase.

Well, I bought an imitation of the leather Loop, and it peeled off in layers after 2 weeks, another very bad milanese, lost its color and bent, the imitation of Nike, a thousand fluff sticks in addition to being much more soft and that does not fit well and comes off. The steel ones are veneers and they don't offer good quality either. So cheap straps are fine to be spending every two to three straps on straps, and in the end "cheap is expensive." All the best.

Six months ago I bought an identical link steel strap for € 23 from a well-known Chinese website, and I am delighted with it. The original Apple costs € 509. Amazing. It is already starting to be a little scratchy from use, which is normal. Well, soon I will gladly throw it away and buy another one like it. For the price of an original I can exchange 22 times for an imitation. Which will not last me the clock, sure.
