The universal charger will not be Lightning, but neither will microUSB

Since the news appeared the other day about the obligatory nature of a universal charger for all mobile devices in Europe, a lot has been written about it, and on many occasions what has been said is incorrect. The European Union will oblige all manufacturers of mobile devices that sell their products in European territory to use the same connector to charge the device. But this obligation is not immediate, nor does it specify which will be the chosen connector, so the information given to the microUSB as the future universal connector is false.

The reality is that the Lightning connector is far superior to the microUSB. More comfortable and much more advanced, the Lightning connector has only one drawback that makes it impossible for it to be chosen: it is owned by Apple. I doubt very much that the apple company agrees to give up all the rights it has over its connector so that the rest of the manufacturers can use it freely, and I also doubt that the rest of the manufacturers want to use a connector that Apple has devised, since it would be to recognize its superiority. But the microUSB is already obsolete technologyEven Samsung has ditched it on its brand new Galaxy S5. The connector that was intended to become the standard of the manufacturers does not have the necessary characteristics to be it.

What do we have then? Nothing for the moment. Manufacturers have 3 years to reach an agreement and choose the one that will be the universal charger. What will Apple do? It would be a major surprise if the Cupertino team joined with the rest of the manufacturers and accepted the chosen standard. Apple has always waged war on its side, and so far it has done very well. Surely your legal office will find some loophole through which to escape and make your Lightning connector the one that all your devices carry, perhaps it is as simple as adding an adapter to the box.

It would not seem strange to me that they use the Apple one, since the micro sim was designed by themselves ...

Micro SIM was not devised by Apple ... it is just a shortened SIM ... what you cut out is plastic. That is to say: it is a vulgar SIM with cut plastic, but in no case devised by Apple.

Did some company launch a smaller sim before Apple ??? not true !, then who happened to remove excess plastic from the sim to fill that gap in technology and at the same time suppress the gevey sim and the like ??? to apple, right?

Not so, it is the work of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute. Apple was the first to use it on a smartphone. Just because someone is the first to use something in a massive way does not mean that they have invented it ...

the micro sim is not a simple cropped sim, don't be ignorant, that you can use a simple sim as a micro sim by cropping it, yes, but the microsim is smaller, just like the nano sim.

The one in the Galaxy S5 is microUSB 3.0 and it would not make sense that after efforts to unify all manufacturers under the same connector, to save production costs, the microUSB, which is the one that is most widespread, would be rejected. That there is a lot to work with the microUSB connector, yes. That they are going to choose another type of connector, no.
They are conclusions that anyone with two fingers of a forehead would come to.

You said it yourself, microUSB 3.0, different from the conventional microUSB, both in form and performance. A connector that, on the other hand, I see too large to be added universally. A Galaxy S5, tablet or phablet would be easy, but there are many other smartphones or conventional mobiles that are much smaller.

The Galaxy S5 has not abandoned the conventional microUSB connector, you can still use both, two connections in one just like the Galaxy Note 3.
on the other hand there are more connectors, the Lightning is not the only candidate in the world to take into account, also it does not dominate much of the market as does the microUSB that many accessories are already adapted to it.

Now that all other brands (except apple) already use the same connector, the micro USB, what would be a step back is to choose another.

I think that because a connector is the most used currently, it does not always have to be, that is, some of you argue that the microUSB should be the standard, but just as the interior of a phone advances and carries new parts / components, the connector it should also improve. Within three years I'm sure the technology is advanced and the microUSB is more than outdated.

I do not see Apple using another connector that is not theirs, no matter how much they want to force them in the EU

But if you have already talked about the micro usb 3.1 that will be reversible etc. Time to time. Apple I do not think it will change the connector, it will put a lightning transformer to that standard and that's it, but the lightning I already said in another article that it will not be the best, in this usb 3.1 micrp better transfer rates as well as charging are expected.

3 years?? Enga already! If the iphone charger neither the micro usb nor na de na !! Gentlemen there are many advances to charge our terminals without cables ... In 3 years ... They will sell us the mobile with a current adapter that will charge us remotely and that's it

  9.   coas85 said

You are wrong, the design of the «nano» sim was made by apple, look for it.

The microUSB cables are compatible with the microUSB 3.0 (which are worth it) so they can be reused with this type of "new" connector and that is what all these regulations are about. To save cables, to unify all the kingdoms under a single ring and that ring is microUSB3.0 or microUSB 3000.0 but microUSB after all. Assume it ..

PS: yes .., we all agree that Apple did not invent the microsim ...

Taking advantage of the chargers, could someone help me here?

Today I found an original A1385 lightning charger. My question is, does this model work for the iphone 5? Or is it for ipad or other iphone model?
    Thanks in advance
