These are my conclusions after several days with iOS 9

As curious as I am, I always have the bad luck to install the first beta of the next iOS that is going to be launched, and it was not going to be less with iOS 9, just a few hours after Drake closed the Keynote presentation of the World Wide Developers Congress was already installing iOS 9 on an iPhone 5S to check out those new features and confirm if the promise of Apple's stable new operating system would come true. Today, several days after having installed and suffered iOS 9, these are my conclusions.

Installation

As simple as ever, I can't really verify if this beta can really be installed without having the UDID of the iPhone in question registered as a developer. However my partner Pablo Aparicio has confirmed that registration is not necessary to install this first beta. However, it would not be the first time that some have installed the betas without registering the relevant UDID and in one or two subsequent updates Apple of the aforementioned betas have been left with a nice paperweight and have had to restore losing the pertinent information.

Therefore, the first thing I do is remind you that installing is extremely easy, but If you are not willing to carry the advantages of carrying a somewhat unstable operating system or are used to these tasks, better forget it.

The novelties put to the test

• Spotlight and Siri: We will start with the one that I have noticed the most in my day to day, the Spotlight will undoubtedly become the piece around which everything revolves in iOS 9, using it well it will become a multipurpose tool that will save us a lot of time. Indeed Search is the crown jewel in this new operating system. On the other hand Siri has also supposedly been one of the most benefited, I personally have to admit that the only thing I have checked is the makeover of the sound capatador, otherwise Siri continues in its line.
• The QuickType keyboard It also remains continuous, however now it shows differences when pressing the Shift key, now when pressing with two fingers on the keyboard once it will select the last written word, if we perform the same action again it will select the last written phrase and if we keep the touch With two fingers a cursor will appear with which to move through the text selection, for me a great success and very necessary due to the imprecision of the old text selector often.
• The iCloud Drive app: Necessary, and waiting for a similar one for Windos, the application is stable and fast, including all the functions of sharing, sending and saving that are expected of an application of these characteristics, we simply click on the file in question and give it Click on "more" to see the endless possibilities. But from my point of view it suffers from a very serious error for now, it does not show preview of the images.
• New multitasking window: A success or a mistake depends on who, now it appears like the tabbed version of Safari but horizontally, often faster than the previous one, but it takes some getting used to. It continues to show the terrible defect of not allowing to close all the applications at the same time, but we remind you that closing the applications in iOS the only thing that achieves is to increase the battery consumption without achieving better performance, so we do not recommend it.
• The settings section now includes a search engine Spotlight-style: I can only shake my fist in acclaim at this new feature.
• When plugging in the auriculares It will activate you directly in the lock menu the option to give Play where you left it the last time in the music application that was, it is not crazy, but it is a point in favor.
• WiFi range It has improved, not a lot, but enough to show it, in the rooms furthest from the router in my home and office I have been able to observe that the WiFi connection shows at least one point more than before.
• The new source: It does not attract attention, but it is true that it is more serious and pleasing to the eye than the Helvetica Neue, however it is not an excessively necessary change.
• Wallet: It comes to be Passbook with another name, in fact it works exactly the same and it looks exactly the same, that if they have changed the icon, the previous one was a monument to retinal detachment.
• news: Unfortunately I have not been able to see it, I suppose that because I have my Apple ID linked to Spain, despite having another Apple ID linked to the United States, the application does not call me enough to try it today.

The autonomy

Just no. The autonomy in iOS 9 has not only not improved, but it has significantly worsenedHowever, we remember that we are still facing the first beta and that this is possible and will surely change as the days go by. Now it's time to talk about the famous "saving" mode of iOS 9, which promises to save performance by lowering the processor speed, stopping downloads, disabling background execution, reducing visual effects and connection speed.

The result, once again, NO. It just doesn't workAfter having spent about six hours in "saving" mode, I can confirm that the battery dropped at the same rate at least as in normal state, that is, the battery shows a rather unpleasant egg yellow color. On the other hand, it is good to remember that we are still in beta 1 and that we expect a lot from this version of iOS.

Known incompatibilities

• Outlook: It does not allow us to switch between accounts and inboxes because the account switch button in the left drop-down menu disappears.
• Telegram: Crashes when typing a certain number of characters or more than approximately five words.
• Spotify: It often crashes especially when starting a Playlist, but if you give it ten seconds it comes to life.
• WhatsApp: Serious difficulties to reproduce audios and send photos, the lag becomes unbearable.
• SwiftKey: It does not miss the intro animation, although it works, you cannot configure it or change the keyboard color.
• Deezer: It does not work.

Stability

It is far from being a stable system, but it points to ways. There are functions that it performs extremely quickly and others that simply make you suffer. We expect a lot, as I have already said, of this version of iOS that Cook presented as the most stable and optimized in a long time. We remember not only that, but it has also been restructured in such a way that the applications and the operating system itself would occupy much less space in the phone's flash memory, this signal gives good faith that optimization is the reference to find in this operating system, we will see how the betas progress, but so far the use is being raised at least as hard as when I installed the beta of iOS 8.
