These are the different 5G icons that you can find in the status bar of your iPhone

Many of you will already have in your hands one of the new iPhone 12, a new device that arrives to revolutionize the technological world in this 2020-2021 season. And yes, as many demanded, the new iPhone 12 (in all its variants) is already compatible with 5G networks, a technology that allows us to have high-speed internet on our devices. A 5G that has also been involved in several controversies, far from the comical suspicions of being a network that facilitates the transmission of COVID, 5G sometimes is not as fast as they sell. What 5G is real? How can we identify it on our iPhone? Keep reading that we tell you all the icons that you may find related to 5G coverage.

And it is that as you can see in the previous image, in the new iPhone 12 we can find up to 4 different 5G modes, each one offers us something different and in the end it is good to know that 5G we are using. As much as the telephone companies sell us, not all 5G are real, it is our iPhone 12 that will inform us of what the 5G network to which it is connected is like. These are the different 5G nomenclatures that we will find next to the coverage bars:

  • 5G E: it's actually a network 4G masquerading as 5G
  • 5G-rule: a standard 5G network, it is the most used in the world
  • 5G +: network High speed 5G, uses the mmWave standard
  • 5GUW: it is the best 5G network, used by Verizon, is based on mmWave technology and from Verizon it is called "5G Ultra Wideband"

Now, keep in mind that iPhone 12 compatible with mmWave networks are only marketed in the United States, a shame since it is precisely the mmWave technology that allows faster communication. Of course, personally I believe that in the next iPhone 13? We will see this technology globally.

I have the new 12 Pro Max and the other day I tried the 5G and this is my opinion:
Apart from the fact that it did not have a much higher speed than the 4G that I usually use, it took me half an hour that I had it put a battery egg and part of the other. My conclusion (as I said in a comment in this same medium a long time ago and you can see it), is that 5G is not relevant today. There is not enough coverage, you get it with luck, the battery consumption of the phone is enormous and it will be a couple of years (and I am not short), until we can enjoy a 5G as God intended and that the battery of our phones accompany the experience. It is more marketing than anything else. The 5G !! The 5G !! It is the future ... but that future has not yet arrived, at least here in Spain.
    Greetings.
